chapter 29

           "Aww! Nicole. Why me. Yes,why me! Here I am in the suburbs of California.  I know what I did was wrong but I'm proud of myself, I was able to leave that cursed land and when I become somebody,I'll go back to Abtsas to save to save other victims like me who are given to old men all in the name of buying you when your family has financial problems and what is sickening about it is that these so called men are old enough to be the grandfather's of these girls who are victims including me. I'm really proud of myself that I was able to escape and I don't regret it one bit. Hmm!I now have to find a job and most of all shelter to lay my head." She says in her head. "Wow! What a beautiful hotel, it's so grand and luxurious. I have to be positive and cross my hands in getting a job here. Oh God!  Please let them hire me to work in this beautiful place. " Nicole says out loud and she goes to the receptionist while people stare at her, even the receptionist rolls her eyes at her for ruining her conversation with the rich billionaire Evans Steele who walks away saying he'll see her later.

      " Good morning ?" Nicole greets the receptionist who's name is Janice on her name tag.

      "Good morning ,miss. How may I help you. " Janice asks while rolling her eyes at Nicole. 

       "Please, erm......erm.......please " Nicole says while scratching the back of her head..

    "Miss, don't waste my time, you already made me lose my client so you better talk because I don't have all day for you ." Janice speaks angrily. 

      " Yes ma'am ".

      "Don't you dare ma'am me again. Can't you see my name on the tag, are you blind or do I look like an old lady to you." Janice says to Nicole. 

    "I just came to California and I have nowhere to go,  please is there any vacancy in this hotel, cleaning,  cooking, serving. Anything,  I'll do any job that is available ." Nicole says pleasingly. 

                  "People already came for interview on Monday but I'll check and see if there's any vacancy ." Janice says to Nicole while she check the computer. 

                 Nicole looks around the hotel which is full of gold and luxury. She says to herself that she's sure only the rich come here. Nicole's mind goes back to Janice the receptionist,  she was rude to Nicole for ruining her conversation with the rich billionaire Evans Steele who is always the most talked about billionaire with lot's of companies,  cars, airlines, malls and a whole lot. He's mother is actually the owner of this hotel with several others in every state in the US and in other countries. This family walks on money and luxury but unfortunately their all worldly things that won't follow you when you die. That's why I  always wonder of rich people who treat the poor ones like dirt, it's such a pity because we're all made from sister and breathe the same air so I don't why they see themselves to be perfect and they treat we the poor ones as nobody's. Evans Steele's girlfriend died while giving birth to to his son, who's now a month old. So every lady is trying to get close to him so that they can be the next person in his life. 

       "Miss?" Janice calls Nicole. 

        "I'm so sorry my mind was just wondering about ." Nicole says.

                    "Yeah, It's obvious. " Janice says awkwardly. "Actually, there's a temporary position for a waitress for just two weeks in the restaurant. "

       "I'll take it." Nicole says happily squealing. 

            IN THE CHEF'S OFFICE. 

             "Where are you from? " Chef Barnes asks Nicole. 

            "I'm from Abtsas." She replies.

             "I think I've heard of that place. It's really far." He says.

     "Yes, it is. " Nicole replies.

      "Why did you come all the way from Abtsas to California? "He questions her.

                 "Actually, I was given to an old man who bought me from my parent'sbecause we were struggling to make ends meet. I had to run away because I have to continue with my education, I want to be a successful woman in future not to be given birth to babies and going to the farm. "Nicole says bravely. 

             "So sad. My dear, you just have to believe and be positive about the future and everything will be well with you. I'll give you the position but you know it's only for two weeks. The person having that position is taking care of something so she took a two weeks off. Where do you live now? "He asks.

        "I actually don't have a place to stay, I got here today ." Nicole says sadly.

         "Well, it's not a problem. We have a quarter's for workers in need but you'll only be hear for two weeks so you must rent an apartment. "He tells her.

      "Thank you so much chef. I'm so grateful. " She thanks him. 

              "You're welcome. "He says as he speaks to someone on the telephone on the table. 

    "I've called the head of domestic staffs to take you to the quarters. "He says to herself.

        "Okay. "She responds ,just then someone knocks on the door.

                "You can come in."He responds. A lady enters wearing a tight skirt and blouse, she looks really sexy.

        "Chef Barnes you called me."Angela says which is her name on the tag on the left side of her breast. 

      Chef Barnes introduces Nicole and Angela to each other. "Angela, from today onwards Nicole will be working here as a temporary waitress for two weeks. Please take her to the quarters so she can settle down.  She'll start work tomorrow so make sure you give her some uniforms before the close of the day? "He orders Angela. 

     "Yes chef."She assures him. Walking out of the office with Nicole behind her.

      AT THE STEELE AMBASSADOR HOTEL WORKERS STAFF.

            "This will be your room."Angela says to Nicole. 

        "Okay thanks. "She says to Angela who lives the room.
