Chapitre 4

Alex:

Yesterday I was nothing. Today I was everything. Because for people, money was everything. The secret behind my success was that I didn't run behind money. I made wealth run for me. It all started when my father died, my own mother left me in an orphanage to marry another man. From that point I knew I had to be my own support.

I had a friend, the only friend I made at orphanage. My childish mind told me I had to trust him. Big mistake, he ratted me out when I was severely bullied and he was among the group. From then onwards I never trusted anyone.

I gave all my time to my studies and maintaining my skills. Soon I was hired for a model agency and moved out of the orphanage. I left the career of modeling at eighteen because harassing started there too. I was a man of respect and I couldn't handle it anymore. I had to go throw a very dark time while maintaining my company but at the age of twenty one, I successfully made it run. I never found love, never found my heart beating for anyone like in the movies. But I knew certainly, if you truly loved someone, you can never fall out of it. Like some couples did. I called it their infatuation. I saw many people break-up. I considered myself lucky seeing their situation to not to go through that delima.

I was invited today for a motivational speech at King's Highschool. I wasn't surprised. I gave many speechess in my life leaving people speechless. Today was no different. I was the honourable guest as usual but I wasn't arrogant at least.

My driver drove me there. I wore a black tuxedo, although it didn't matter even if I had warn simple pant shirt. But I knew the society of rich. They loved lavish styles. So much for fame and business, sigh.

They had a big auditorium. The principal came to greet me herself with warm smile. Women and their lust can be very dangerous but not all were alike. Some were very respectful and only seemed to smile afar. The only ones who scared me were the ones with drooling eyes and hungry claws. Thanks to my allergy to human touch, I always kept my distance.

When I stood on the stage, I could hear swoons and sighs. Not paying much heed to anyone of them, I started my speech about depression, success and all. After that I was handed an award for my services. Many influencial teachers came and talked to me.

I was on my way to my car when suddenly a body collapsed with me. It fell down. These tricks of tripping on me became so old but being a gentleman under the limelight I had to help it. When I crouched down, offcourse it had to be a girl. I gave my hand to her to stand up. I was wearing gloves, therefore, I didn't mind much. When she looked at me, I couldn't believe my mind. For just a tiny moment, my breath hitched. Although, she looked nerdy, didn't look anything special. Just someone so average but I don't know why I thought there was something more to her.

Maybe it was my mind playing tricks on me. I could see she was wearing natural lenses. One of many products my company made that's why I was good at telling. Ignoring the uncertain feeling. I asked, "Are you okay?"

She only nodded and stood up without taking my hand. I stood up too, seeing that many eyes were on us now. She spoke, "Thank you for helping, Mr. Alex but excuse me. I have a class to reach to."

Really, she's the first person not to ask for a picture, photograph or anything. I felt no desire coming from her. Her posture was like she was talking to a professor or something. She went ahead, not even giving me the time to say anything. Maybe she was in a hurry. I ignored the situation and also went on my way.

Only if I knew destiny would make us meet sooner than I thought.....

I rode towards my office, work was very important and I was never the one to delay anything. Upon reaching there, I went inside and straight towards my personal lift. I reached to my floor and went towards my office doors as my secretary greeted me. I always nodded to greetings as I liked to be preserved in my own way.

Taking the seat, by the huge glass window, I looked down and saw people roaming here and there. My secretary came and noted me on the meetings I had to attend. Again the tiresome schedule which never seemed to end. Sometimes I honestly had this longing inside my heart to be normal but at the same time I felt happy to not to be a manwhore. Maybe there was someone in my fate made only for me. I was also on medications and doctors did say that I should never loose hope of getting rid of my allergy. I was not satisfied with that comment but when they told me that in rare cases, I may find someone who I could touch and would not get an infection.

I was going to the meeting conference room when suddenly the thought of the nerdy girl at that highschool came in my mind. I didn't know why. Confusion ran in my mind and I shook my head. I once read that a normal person thinks about other people at average only 0.2 percent. But was I really someone normal? I did not think so. If I was, I would not be having psychotic thoughts every time.

Only this time it was different. I never comprehended about women. The rule of my life was meet, greet and forget. Then why the sudden interest in her, I honestly did not understand....
