Chapter 3 Tears
The tears flowing down from my eyes as I recall yesterday's incident where my both sons said such things to me. I knew very well that I was never reicived love in my life, neither before marriage nor after marriage.
I know I have never been into modern accessory, that glittering jewels, that imported perfumes and that branded clothes type of person.
I don't know anything about it, never knew and never learn about it. I have been a simple person form very start, wishing to continue to live a simple yet delightful existence.
I never even in my dreams wish to marry a rich man but just wanted a normal life because you never think about it doesn't mean it won't occur.

I sighed as all my high spirit from exam hall has ended to down the hell as I reach the house. There is an old man may be enough to be my father or even older sitting on a single sofa.
In front of him, my grandparents were sitting on the big sofa but in a timid manner. Uncle is frigging and frightened on his place where he is standing.
As soon as I enter everyone's attention gets on me. "There she is the one I am looking for. Come here child, let me take a look at you." the man says to me as he looks at me from head to toe.
I look towards my grandparents as they relax in their sits after my entry, even uncle look happy for the first time seeing me. I go to the man and stand in front of him with my head blowdown, showing in acknowledge and respect.
"You are as pretty as you are in your picture. What's your name girl?" he asked me as introducing me?
"Danika, Uncle Ji. My name is Danika Deshmukh" I answered him quietly still if keeping my head low. "Where were you before?" he asked in a serious tone. My breath hitch hearing his tone.
It's the same tone grandfather use on me about me being a girl or telling me my mistakes.
"Today was my last 12th board exam. I was there giving it. Uncle Ji." I say to him in a respectful manner, still looking slightly down to the floor.
I dare to peak on him a little to see he then look towards my grandfather with a glare which scares me. "What's your age then?" he asked this time his voice was dark and strong.
"I am 17" I reply in one breathe.
"I was told you are 18," he said in the same dark voice.
"I will be turning 18 next month form today on... 24 March"
"Do you know how to cook and clean?" this time his voice sounded pleasant.
"Yes, Uncle Ji.".
"Okay! Then the day after tomorrow will be the engagement and the next day of her birthday that is 25 March will be the marriage. Get everything ready. I will send other remaining things" he says and with that, he leaves in the big car park in front of the house.
"Thank God! This girl came on time, if not what could have happened?" my uncle says as he takes a sit on the same sofa where the man was sitting before.
"What the hell are you standing there for go do your chores, go get lost now?" uncle yell at me. My eyes got fill but I control myself to not to cry as I go towards my room.
"Finally we are getting free from this girl, good ridden. She will be out of our lives forever" I hear grandmother says to grandfather, with this my legs stop at that moment.
"What?" I ask as I turn to her.
"What did you just say, Daa-dee (grandma)?".
"Didn't you get it. That man was here to see you and marry you to his son. You are getting married and will finally get out of our life." my grandfather says happily.
My heart sinks in, listening to his words. "I.. am... I... can't get....... be.. be... wedded." I paused took a deep breath said it loud "I don't want to marry now." as I said it, I felt a sharp pain on my cheek.
I look up to grandmother who just slaps me and was looking angry at me. I hold my cheek as I step back fearing of her agitated scowl.
"Listen here, you ungrateful girl. You are getting married next month and engage just in two days, no matter what. We would have got you married even earlier if there was no 18-year law form the government." she says as venom fall from her mouth.
"Manohar takes her to her room and make sure she doesn't do any stupidity, until her engagement and marriage." grandfather orders uncle as he takes me to my room and locks it from outside.
I fall down on my knees crying and asking, requesting them not to get me to marry so soon. But no one listens. I got free from the room only on the day of engagement.
My aunty gives sari to wear and get ready before guest me a arrives. But when I didn't do it she calls uncle who beat me until I said yes to do whatever they say and got ready.
Soon my engagement was done. I didn't even get to see him, the groom's face entire time, I was just looking down to the floor, as if the floor was the most interesting thing in the world. The month went by as me being locked in the room only was allowed out for wedding shopping.
I was beaten to death once in this one month as I tried to run away but my cousin older brother Karan caught me.
I couldn't stop the tears running down my cheeks. Time flies so soon, that today is my wedding day and no one can save me.
