chapter 7

Here is a list of pictures of all the dresses the witches will be wearing . The names who they belong to are under them.  Tobias and Nathan are wearing same suit.

Naomi, Cleo and I slowly  walked back to the arena.

The sun was setting, I watched as the last ray of gold sunk into the earth, plunging us into total darkness. When the sun set the witches began to cackle. We as witches are servants to the dark so natuallry we prefer the night. It's not a tradition to cackle at the retreat if the light, well actually it is but we only do it during pagen traditions and feasts.

The arena had completely changed l. There was now a large bonfire in the centre. The walls were draped with black, silk clothes, the edges gently kissed the floor. On the far right side there was a long wooden table piled up with food, wine and sweets. We cloud almost feed the entire village of Hawthorn with that much food. 

The coven stood still as we entered.  All dressed in their formal attire. This was also the same attire we would wear for the traditional pagen traditions such as our feast on Halloween.

" Witches and warlock let's us welcome the initiates ," round of applause started up ," The day after tommorow they will begin their month long training.  If they pass there training they will become official members of this coven . Initiates step forward as called . Cleo Meyer, blood witch ," Cleo stepped forward ," Naomi Riggs familiar witch ," Naomi stepped forward Lily shrieking as she did ," and finally Tobias Benson bone , familiar, blood warlock and assassin ."

I stepped forward, standing between the girls . My mam and aunt looked at me with absolute pride . The whole coven looked at me with pride.

" Now let's party !" Maxine yelled.

As usual during these parties the witches stuck together with other witches who had the same type of magic they did.

Naomi , Violet , Agatha and Veronica all huddled together, all their familiars sat infront of them.  Naomi and Violet's eagles were 'playing ' with one another . Agatha's familiar was a black cat who she named Havoc . Veronica's familiar was a king cobra named Fang.  She was the teacher for the famialr witches so she had to have the most deadly familiar. She whould be mine and Naomi's teacher for our training.  When she saw me looking she bowed her head, I bowed my head back. It was a typical greeting in the coven. 

In another spot my aunt and Peggy sat togehter . They -along with my mam- are the bone witches .  The only reason my mam isn't with them now is because she is talking with Maxine and Lizzie. They actually looked like they weren't really talking more like arguing. When my mam got fed up she stormed over to my aunt and Peggy. Lizzie did not look happy when my mam stormed off. Then am of a sudden she snapped her head in my direction. She halted at me with the menacing eyes. She looked like she was studying me. 

I turned my eyes away from her and continued to look out at the coven.

My eyes landed on Martha - also a blood witch - she and Nathan- our assassin and her boyfriend - were huddled together by the fire. She giggled with delight as Nathan boldly stuck his hamd in the flames and pulled it out before he could be burned.

They were the only couple on the coven . Most of the other's didn't approve, but the rest don't mind it . They keep saying that maybe one day they will have a powerful child.  I never really understand of what they feel towards one another. Agatha called it love. Before that I'd never heard that word before. It's not something my mam would say . When I asked her about it, she just simply told me that it wasn't something I should chase down. That it will only bring you pain. I guess it's because she loved my father and it hurt when she lost him. 

And then of course I was huddled on a ledge - alone . I didn't know where to go. Which circle should I sit with?

My aunt , carrying two glasses of wine, slipped down next to me .

" Here, drink this you deserve to let loose a bit." She said, handing me the glass.

Of course she said I need to let loose . After all my aunt does have a restful lifestyle. My mam has never really liked it, but I am secretly in envy of it. I like who I am but sometimes I've wondered what it would be like to just live free. For a while this feeling led me to hate my aunt, because she had somethimg I didn't - freedom to e whatever she wants to be.

I nodded thanks to her then drowned my glass. The alcohol burned as it ran down my throat . It brought back memories of my first time drinking.  It stung so bad I couched it all up. Well to be honest I was only twelve .

" So hybrid powers, that's cool right ?"

" Hybrid powers ?" I scrunched, setting the empty glass down beside me.

"  Yeah that's what I'm calling it.  " she shrugged.

" I guess that would be a name for it . And yeah it's really cool. Although I would like to know why I ha e these powers, do you think mam knows? " I asked.

" Sorry bud, I asked her earlier and she didn't seem to know."

Fuck, I was really hoping to get an answer!

The clicking of glass caused us all to turn to Lizzie . 

" Alright I think it's time to disperse. Training will start the day after tomorrow. "

My aunt patted my shoulder then went up to her room .

After saying goodbye to everyone my mam and I began out journey home. We didn't utter one word to one another. 

As soon as we got home I went up to my room and fell onto my bed. I didn't even bother changing .

My heavy eyes drooped shut. As I drifted off to sleep a girls laughter filled my ears. Along with a whisper . 

" Tobias."
