chapter 8

Saturday, 03 March 2018.

Almost midnight, at the party house, Manhattan Upper East Side.

Emilie feels tired already. And the loud music plays in the fifth floor really makes her head spinning. She wants to go home soon. Even both of her long legs already feel weary when walking in such high heels.

Her eyes stare back and forth between the two big pillars that will lead to the only elevator in the room. There was no one else here, except herself. She separates her way with Sonia and Illana since they want to get drunk with other party guests.

But she doesn’t have the strength anymore to join the wild party. Her eyes feel kind of sleepy, remembering that the clock already turns almost midnight.

Slowly but steady, she walks her pair of red heels toward the quiet alleyway. And then she stops in front of the elevator to hurry hit the button.

As Emilie waits before the elevator’s door will open, her eyes try scanning the empty surrounding in this alley again. There was only one big decorative porcelain vase with green plants in it, that is placed near the elevator.

After a few minutes later, the elevator’s door finally open widely. And there, her eyes also follow to wide-open as she stares at such a surprising view.

And right in front of her eyes, she sees Sheryl and Jack kissing wildly. It’s like the world only own by them, that they forget there’s a person standing right in front of them by now.

Then Emilie stares at how Sheryl is kissing Jack. The view itself almost makes her want to throw up sick. She can’t take this intimate scene between them. It’s just so gross, she can’t never imagine them being together like this.

But their wild kissing looks just so crazy. The more she observes at how Sherly tries so hard inserting her tongue into him, it’s as if she wants to eat Jack’s mouth instead of kissing him. It’s like she is so hungry at the time. She’s craving for more and more. Like she will never stop.

While Jack looks like he has to submit his entire soul to Sheryl. It seems like he doesn’t really return her hungry kiss. And in the end, it’s looking so pathetic, actually.

And then comes the time that Emilie can’t really take it anymore. And so, she has to interrupt their kissing game.

“OH. MY. GOD!” Emilie shouts annoyingly as she puts one of her hand on her chest. “So disgusting! Unbelievable!”

Right at that second, Sheryl and Jack turn to look at her. They look a little surprise that the elevator’s door already opens for a while now.

“You have no shame! Crazy!” Emilie shouts again while still carrying her white purse.

Without feeling no shame at all, Sheryl quickly brushes her lips with her two fingers and smiles like the devil itself. Then she shouts back, “Ups, my bad. I thought we will need a room service! Am I right, Babe?”

“Ugh… so gross. Unbelievable!” Emilie grumbles again. “Just get out from here, you, whore!”

Sheryl rolls her blue eyes for a moment, as she holds the elevator’s door with her body before it closes again. While Jack just stands still silently behind her.

“What? Never been kissed before?” says Sheryl with her devilish smile that looks so damn annoying. “So you wanna try some with me maybe, pretty darling?”

Jack chuckles at her funny words, while Emilie squints her eyes and feels a disgust instead.

“Ugh, get a life, Beefy Girl!” Emilie shouts peevishly as she walks into the elevator and push them out. “I need to go home now.”

Before the elevator’s door closes, she sees Sheryl waves her hands and shouts, “See ya!”

Once Emilie returns home, she hurriedly washes her face and body before going to bed. Then after everything gets clean, she changes her red mini dress into her favorite floral silky pajama. And then she can finally jump into bed.

But before she will go to sleep, there is one ritual she has to do. In a hurry, she opens her laptop to see if there’s any news posted in her social media’s timeline.

And right on the spot, her intuition is so on the point, somebody has posted new scandalous pictures of Sheryl and Jack when kissing in the elevator earlier.

“Such a gossip girl. Always hunting for scandals, huh?” she mutters peevishly.

But at least those pictures don’t show her face at all. Since she saw them kissing right before her eyes, she doesn’t want to feel bad later when meeting with Illana.

However, Jack was still Illana’s past lover. So, it’s not a good idea to involve herself with the drama between them. Especially when it comes to Sheryl.

Afterward, her phone starts ringing loudly. When she peeps, it’s Sonia and Illana that try to video call her.

Without a second thought, she hurriedly receives their call. And there, she sees Sonia has already changed in her purple silky pajama, while Illana wears black sleeveless dress that shows her shiny bare shoulders.

“Ugh! OMG! Did you see these gossip girls just posted such scandalous pictures at night?” Sonia shouts peevishly.

Meanwhile, Illana just shakes her head. It looks like that she feels annoyed with it as well.

Then Emilie says, “I know. I have seen the pictures. Sheryl was kissing him like a hungry mother bear. Ugh, so gross!”

“Okay, whatever. Tonight’s party was doomed anyway!” Sonia grumbles. “It was boring! The champagne taste bad!”

“I told you. One hour ago, I didn’t feel like drinking, yea?” says Emilie, then giggling alone.

Then Illana waves and says, “Okay, so, see you guys tomorrow? I’m really sleepy now. So, have a nice dream ya’ll!”

And then they hang up at the same time, and quickly go to sleep.

One hour ago, at the party house. Before going home.

Illana can’t take the champagne no more when it tastes not good at all. And so, she excuses herself to have a moment in the bathroom. But when she just walks in the alleyway, her eyes open widely at such a surprising view.

There’s Emilie, standing frozenly when seeing Sherly and Jack kissing in the elevator. And therefore, Illana hurriedly hides herself behind the big pillar to peep on them quietly.

When seeing them kissing in such a passionate way, the view quickly reminds her of the past memories when she was still so in love with Jack. But however, when her eyes see Sheryl still locking lips with him, Illana resents her so much that she feels so fiery from the inside.

Then the old loving memories dilutes on her mind for a moment. Everything feels abrupt for her. She remembers again the taste of his warm lips on her. And then she can feel his body heat against her every time they were together in bed.

Every single day with him felt lovey-dovey. All the romantic moments felt everlasting for both of them. It’s like they can own the world in their hands, and no one can disturb their days.

But in the end of time, all those memories just become rubbish for her. It’s all gone now. The feeling isn’t there anymore. All she can feel is just a huge amount of anger.

And now that she resents them, she doesn’t want those memories to dilute her in such a wild fantasy that is just no longer exist.

It’s time to wake up again. She has to move on. Life has to be different now.

And so, she tells to herself; I’m going to be okay this time.
