chapter 6

  “Miles” He heard someone called him. It was his mom.

        “Son, what happened?” She worriedly approached them and looked at Kathy.

        “Belinda! I’m fine, just a little tipsy.” She hiccuped, “I’m going to go ahead to my room.” Kathy said. She was obviously drunk.

        “Okay, Miles, take this,” Belinda handing him a bottle of water. “Drink this now, you need it, you look tired and thirsty,” She offered. Miles smiled, his mom was so thoughtful.

        He took the bottled water and drank the content “Thanks, Mom,” he felt revitalized after downing the water. The place was getting warmer, he thought.

        “We’re going ahead, she needs to rest, she’s drunk,” He said to his mom

        Miles felt a light blow on his shoulder, “I’m not drunk!” She shrieked, “Stop telling everyone I’m drunk,” she frowned.

        Miles looked around and found no one around them, just some visitors who have stayed after the party.

        “Okay drink this water here, you need to sober up a little bit so you can walk straight or else I will carry all the way from here to your room” Miles offered the glass of water the waiter gave him. Kathy drank it.

        “Thanks, and No I can still walk” She protested

        “Okay, let's go then,” she poised herself. Belinda said her goodnight and went back to Jack, who was waiting for her with other folks.

        Kathy wobbled while Miles held her side waist. She lied, she couldn’t walk straight without Miles beside her. She just let him keep him near her. Miles was making sure she was not going to stumble and save her from further embarrassment. Kathy silently blamed herself for consuming too much alcohol.

        They were able to enter the elevator without a problem. Kathy clung to Miles as she felt the elevator’s motion, it made her feel dizzier. Her hand was wrapped around his side waist as the other one clasped on his shoulder. Her face almost buried on his chest. She inhaled so deep she smelt his cologne. How can this gorgeous silly guy still smell good? She wondered.

        She felt a familiar sensation, trying to arise out from her stomach. ‘Shit, I can’t throw this up in here.’ She thought in a daze.

        A while later, the elevator door finally opened. Miles and Kathy stepped outside and went in the direction of Kathy’s door. Kathy was about to turn the knob handle when the realization hit her, she doesn’t have her purse with her. She forgot it downstairs. “Shit!” she cursed. The sourness was rising up again. She was trying to hold more.

        Miles noticed her dilemma and looked at her and asked, “What’s wrong?”

        She looked back at him with her big bright eyes. He comprehended what she was about to say. Kathy must have left her purse at the bar counter, he thought. She couldn't get inside the room, not unless he let her stay first in his place then take the purse downstairs.

        “It's okay, let’s go over here” He guided her to his hotel room door. He was about to fish out his card key from his pocket when he heard her dry-heaving. ‘Damn it! She can’t throw it up here’ “Hold on, Kathy.”

        He was able to take out his card and open the door in time. Kathy ran straight to the bathroom and bent her face down at the toilet bowl. Miles heard her emptying all her stomach content. It went around for ten minutes, he was having second thoughts of leaving her and taking her purse down at the bar.

        He took off his coat and his bow tie, he seemed feeling hot and warm. He turned on the air-conditioned in full blast. He unbuttoned his shirt to feel the cold air coming out of the machine. He was sweating, and he knew he didn't drink that too much alcohol. They must've served quite a high amount dose of alcoholic drinks. He thought.

        The noise inside the bathroom stopped, then he suddenly heard a sound of kits falling inside and followed by a loud thumping. He anxiously opened the door, he saw the bottles and some toiletries knocked on the floor and found Kathy crouching down the shower room, the water was freely spraying her, and she was drench. He turned off the water and hurriedly bent down to check on her.

        “Hey, are you okay? ” he concernedly asked. He held Kathy’s chin up.

        Kathy lifted her head, her eyes glared around the mess in the toilet.  She had no idea how she ended up in the shower and wet. She remembered getting up and taking a dry towel, maybe she knocked down all of this while taking it.

        Her eyes misted over the stuff she messed up, “I’m sorry,” she apologized. Her teeth started to chatter from cold.

        “Shhh... It's okay, can you stand?”

        Kathy nodded.  She was freezing.

        Miles stood up and went out of the room, he came back with a big towel with him. Miles covered her with a large dry cloth, she felt a bit relieved from the warmed it gave.

        “Come stand up,” he said.

        Kathy stretched her arm to reach Miles.
