chapter 9

She was woken up by a shuffling in the room.

Her eyes fluttered open and stuck on something or rather someone. Kronos was pacing around the room, putting his clothes on. 

She held the blanket closer and sat up on the bed. His head turned towards her as he heard her move. "Good morning" she whispered which he just nodded.

"After yesterday you owe me a favour. It actually doesn't matter, you are my wife so you do as I say. So, I need you to do something." She frowned at hearing this. He was right, but it still hurt to hear it. "What do you want me to do?" 

"I need you to convince my father to let us leave the palace." She should convince him? The king hated her and despised her and she was sure Kronos knew. "I don't know what you want me to do, he most surely won't listen to me."

He shook his head disapprovingly at hearing that. "I'm sure you can think of something." There was venom in his voice and it hurt her. She didn't like him talking to her like that.

"Can I at least know the details? I would like to know why I'm asking."

"I need to get back to Nosstrey and take care of some things, but he doesn't want us to leave. We are supposed to stay a few more days and deal with the nobles. They are annoying, so I don't want to stay."

"Sorry, but what's Nosstrey?" 

He didn't even look at her as he replied. "My city. My father gave it to me for my eighteenth birthday so I would learn how to rule." Keila was surprised, her prince ruled a city? Sure she knew he was a future King and would rule an entire realm but still.

"I'll do my best." He finally looked at her and nodded in approval. 

As she was left in the room alone, she realized there were none of her clothes in these chambers. She couldn't leave the room in a nightgown.

Fortunately, just a few minutes passed and there was a knock on the door. "Come in."

The door opened and Victoria walked in with some clothes in her hands. "Sorry Keila, I wasn't sure if his highness left already. I got some of your clothes."

"Thank you so much. I have a few things I have to do and I need to go if I want to get it done today."

"What are you going to do?" The maid laid the dress on a table and started making the bed. She frowned at seeing the clean sheets but kept her mouth shut.

"I need to persuade the king about something which is not an easy task." Victoria looked at her as her lady sat on a chair and combed her hair. "Forgive me for asking but how did it go last night?" She was naturally curious and a little too nosy for her job but Keila didn't mind, she saw her as a friend.

"It was.....intense." Should she tell her? More importantly, could she tell her?  "I'm still a virgin." It came out as a rumble but Victoria caught it. "What? How?"

Keila looked down and blushed. "Remember when I went to talk to Kronos the other day?" Victoria nodded furiously wanting to know more. "Well he could tell I didn't want to do it and he said we would just pretend but still...."

The maid was surprised to hear that. It was kind of him but it wasn't good. "You know you can't deny him forever right?"

Keila felt bad, it was her duty as a wife but it was just too soon. "I just want to know him for more than four days." Her head hung low and she looked so shy.

"So, what do you want from the king?" Victoria changed the subject and put on a small frown.

"I need him to let us leave to Nosstrey. Are you coming where I go or do you have to stay here?" She wanted her to go with them, she felt comfortable with Victoria.

"I am your maid for the time you spend in the capitol. I can't leave the city though." That was disappointing, she wanted her friend close. "That's a shame."

She got dressed in her black dress and headed to the king's chambers. She wanted this to get over with and if she was lucky it would take just a few minutes.

She knocked on the king's door and waited. He came and opened the door by himself which was weird considering he had plenty of servants.

"Oh, Keila, come on in." He was weirdly happy and had a smirk on. Stepping aside he let her through. 

His chambers were magnificent and she couldn't help but let her eyes roam around the room. Her eyes stopped on the door to his bedroom which was wide open and she could see two women on his bed. She rolled her eyes and turned to look at him.

"What brings you here?" Why was he so cheerful, it was making her uncomfortable but it would hopefully make her talk easier.

"I came with a request. I was hoping, my husband and I could leave to Nosstrey today."

"You came with a request" his smug smirk was gone and his face was showing anger. "And why would I do that, give me one reason." He held out a finger pointing at her. 

She was a little scared but she couldn't let him see that. She held her head high and looked him directly in the eye. "I was hoping we could go to Kronos' city and he could show me off as his wife to his people. He is, after all, their ruler and they should be his first priority."

The king thought about it for a minute and slight smirk reappeared on his lips. "You want to go there so his people could see you?" "I am their queen, am I not?"

The king smiled " That you are, I am sure they will be happy to meet their new queen."

"So, you agree? We can leave today?" "If that's what your husband wants, yes. His people should be the first to see his new wife."

She thought it would take more negotiating but it looked like calling Kronos her husband and her interest in his people made him change his mind. She wouldn't argue.

"Thank you, your highness. I will take my leave." She turned to the door and started walking out of the room. "I'm sure you will be a good wife for my son, just like yesterday."

She didn't turn around, she just kept going.

Keila stopped in front of the prince's chambers and opened the door. As she walked through the sitting area, she could see the door to the bedroom were closed and some noises were heard behind them.

She didn't think twice before she opened the door, but she probably should have. There was a brunette riding her husband.

Kronos heard the door open and looked up. She was standing by the door frozen. He sat up and moved the whore away. He didn't think she would come back so soon.

The woman hurriedly left and he put on his pants and walked to his wife. "How did it go?"

Keila was furious, he was her husband and she was doing what he asked. Couldn't he at least take her somewhere else? "We can leave." She spat at him and his face showed anger. "Don't talk to me like that, I'm your husband." 

"Yes you are and I did what you asked me to do." She opened the door and right before she left she turned her head towards him once more. "Oh and one more thing. I'm not sleeping in that bed again." She was out of the room before he could say or do anything.

As her legs took her through the corridors she let her tears fall. She didn't have the right to judge but it still hurt. This wasn't the marriage she was hoping for. 

She had to calm down and there was only one person she could think of right now, Mia.
