Chapter 0005

VALENTINA RODRIGUEZ POV

I slowly open my lid and got attacked by a bright light on the room. I groan before trying to sit up. Keyword, trying.

I lay back on the bed and felt a shift on my right. I turn my head, and I blink several times, not believing what I saw. Keith was sleeping with his head on the bed I was laying.

I remember about the guys not picking up calls, and I almost get kidnapped by Lance’s gang.

Shit! What am I going to do?

I got the gang leader’s title in one night?!

I remember Lexy running to me and a gunshot. Gosh! I hope she’s okay.

My throat was burning with thirst, and this guy is not waking up. I raise my trembling hand to his shoulder.

“K-Keith?”

I was annoyed as hell with my voice and my body.

How did I get this weak?

Keith groans and lifts his head. When he saw me, he quickly got up and hugged me. I stiffen at the sudden move. After a few seconds, he loosened his grip and sat on the bed next to my head. His warm fingers caress my cheek, making me wanted to learn more into his touch.

“I almost lost you, “he confessed.

I groan. Again?

“W-wat-er, “I stated in my ugly voice.

He immediately got up and grabbed a water at the table on the corners. He came back and helped me to sit up before he put the glass corner on my mouth. I drank the water eagerly. He put the glass back on the table and sat back beside me. Engulfing me in a hug making my heart beat faster.

I’m alive.

As much as I hated him, I can’t help but be pulled back into his arms. It strangely felt safe.

“Why didn’t you run? “he asked after several minutes of silence.

“I can’t. There’s too many of them, “I stated.

Damn! I hate lying!

I recalled the night and saw that indeed I could run. But, being the fool I am, I think I can overpower them, the two strangers who had planned to lure me into a dark alley. I mentally laugh at the thought.

“What are you thinking about? “he asked.

I sigh.

“I was just thinking of how stupid I am, ”

“Why would you think like that? ”

“You know, since no one is picking up my call-” he cut me off.

“I’m so sorry, “he kisses my temple.

What’s wrong with him?

“Let me finish first,” I glare at him, more like trying.

“Since no one is picking up my call, two guys came to me. They were planning something. They kept trying to touch me, and I wanted to pull out my gun, but there’s a surveillance camera there. So, I back away till I reach a dark alley, ”

“I met the boss. But, I don’t know which gang. It was dark. They’re twelve of them. I saw no cars and curious as to what they were doing. I was so scared that they might found out about me. I try to run, but one of them held my arm back,”

“The leader slapped, kicked and punched me, “I shiver at the thought.

Keith holds tightened around me.

“Then, he cut my skin wherever he wanted to. He told the guy that was holding me to bring me to the car, and I refused and brought my legs up and kick him on the face before head butting the man behind me,”

“I take that chance to pull out my gun and head locked the man that had my arm locked. I-I shot everywhere. I don’t even know who I shoot as I retreat. That’s when I heard a car screech, and I fall backwards and saw Lexy running to me. That’s what I remember before everything goes black,”

I finish my story. Biting my cheeks at several lies that I made and some missing part of the story.

I wanted to cry out in frustration. The guilt is eating me alive.
