It was a week since they arrived in Nosstrey and Keila was angry.
She and Kronos have barely talked since the ride and he seemed angry too, but it was hard to tell as he always seems that way.
She tried to let her work or do at least something during the day, but he said he had no work for her. She even tried to persuade him to let her work at the stables, but he denied.
He denied everything she asked for and let her stay in their chambers.
She didn’t even want to call it their chambers anymore. He hardly stayed there, coming late at night and leaving before the dawn. He even didn’t come at all two nights ago.
The first two days after the ride she tried her best to talk to him and make him change his mind but after that, she gave up.
She would stay in her room and read or sometimes talk to Dean and Larrian. They were kind of fun and she liked their company.
That was until two days ago when he caught them laughing together. She was getting red with anger just thinking about that morning.
She spent the night alone in the room, unable to sleep. She couldn’t stop thinking about where he was and how did her life get like this. She was exhausted in the morning from the lack of sleep and when Dean saw her bloodshot eyes he stayed and tried to cheer her up.
He was telling her about Larrian and he got caught stealing kisses from his girl by her father and almost got beaten by him. She laughed really hard and in that moment the door opened and Kronos marched in shooting daggers at Dean.
“What do you think you’re doing?” he strode towards him and punched him so hard he got a second one from the floor.
Dean groaned loudly and tried to stand up but Kronos didn’t let him. He grabbed his nape and threw him against a wall.
“Please, stop!” Keila was staring at him wide-eyed as a tear rolled down her cheek. She hurriedly ran to Dean and kneeled down next to him.
“Why did you do that!?” when her gaze turned to Kronos he was shaking and fuming as an animal. His eyes were even darker than usual and his fists were balled.
It didn’t seem like he heard her, he came to Dean and without any problem lifted him off the ground with one hand. “Is this how you keep guard the whole day? Flirting with her?”
Dean just shook his head unable to speak and Keila tried to make him put him down by putting her wait on his arm but it was useless.
“I will deal with you later.” The disgust in his voice was evident as he threw Dean to the door. When the guard finally got his breath back he hurriedly ran threw the door.
“Now you, wanna tell me what you two have been doing here?” he pressed her against a nearby wall and she couldn’t even breathe but suddenly her fear was replaced by anger. She wasn’t some rag doll.
Her hands moved on their own as she pushed him away with all her might. Kronos stumbled back a few steps quite surprised by her strength.
“I have been caged here for days because you would let me leave,“ she marched towards him and tapped her finger on his chest while yelling. “I have slept in that bed alone because you’ve been gods know where and I have been talking to my friend because he seems to be the only one spending time with me in this place.”
Her cheeks were wet with tears as he just stared at her, stunned. It looked like his wife was a fierce little thing.
Her little fists started hitting his chest but with less force and he grabbed her by her wrists, stopping her movements. “I hate being trapped in this room, unable to do anything.”
His eyes narrowed at her, but his anger didn’t seem to subside. “So you are bored. That doesn’t mean you flirt with your guard and act like a whore!”
“Excuse me?” a disbelieving look took its place on her face, did he really call her a whore?
“Watch your tone when you speak with me.” He spat at her and she couldn’t stop her hand when it snatched from his hold and slapped him.
“Don’t you dare call me a whore!”
His head turned sideways and there was a deadly silence for a while, none of them moving an inch.
Suddenly he snapped his head back and as he opened his eyes they were black. Not just his irises but his whole eyes were black as night.
She gasped at seeing that and cowered back in fear. He looked so scary but she couldn’t move her eyes away.
“Now you listen, if I see you as much as look at him, I will hurt you and him you understand?”
She gaped at him like a fish a few times before her voice finally worked. “But he didn’t do anything and neither did I.”
“That’s the reason I am not killing him right now. Oh and don’t leave the room.”
With that, he marched threw the door.
Now, two days later, she was sitting on her bed. Her back against the headboard and knees under her chin. She felt like a prisoner and the only person she saw was her made, which she hated.
Even though Kronos slept in the room he would come late, thinking she was already asleep and leave early in the morning before she woke up.
Now that she was thinking about it they haven’t talked at all since the incident. She was brought back to reality with a door opening.
Her husband marched threw the door not even looking at her. “Pack your stuff, we are leaving in an hour.”
She stood up from the bed but rather kept her distance.
“Where are we going?”
“To the military camp. You might want to bring some warm clothes. It is near the mountains and it tends to get cold.”
She nodded her head and moved to pack her dresses and cloaks. She wouldn’t risk angering him more than he already was.
It didn’t matter how much she wanted to have a say in her life. He would always win, he would always get what he wanted.
