I have not been able to fall asleep since I read the note, it was just so unexpected and it hit a nerve.
I guess it hit my parents even harder this time.
Just to let you know, it was another painful sight of mum crying hysterically and dad trying to calm her down while holding back his own tears.
But that wasn't why I was sleepless.
After giving the note a second look, I noticed a very tiny heart shaped drawing painted half black and half white with the letter L close to it, this was carefully scribbled at the end of the note, and was responsible for my sleeplessness.
Mum and dad may not have noticed it since its so tiny, but there was no way I wouldn't notice it. It was a signature I was very familiar with.
About three years ago, I had taught Lisa to sign her letters that way, it was meant to be a 'sisters thing' just between Lisa and I, incase we needed to pass notes across without people knowing who they were from. And this was why it bothered me.
If someone else had written this note, it would not have that signature at the end, since no one else knew about it.
So here I was at almost midnight, weighing the possibility that Lisa was actually the one behind both her disappearance and the weird notes.
I know that sounds really dumb and pathetic of me.
It does not make any sense since Lisa can't stand the sight of blood and I don't see her as the kind of person that will actually cut herself just to send a freaky note. I mean she is just about eight years old for crying out loud.
This was a puzzle and I guess it was up to me to figure it out.

"Don't come an inch closer." Dad said sounding really angry.
"You can't stop me from being around my daughter." The woman standing at the kitchen door said, sounding as angry as dad. I couldn't really see her face due to the dim lighting.
"Your daughter?!" Dad said laughing hysterically.
"The same daughter you've cut countless times. You almost killed her and now you call her your daughter. I don't know what exactly is going on in that twisted mind of yours but all I know is that you're not coming anywhere close to Paige." Dad said holding me tightly close to him.
I had no idea what exactly was going on but all I knew was I didn't want to go anywhere with this woman. She always used knives on me when dad was away. It hurt so much, but I couldn't complain.
"A good girl always does what mummy says." She always tells me when I start crying.
Dad saw the cuts on my body yesterday, I told him about what happened in the best way I could and since then, he hasn't allowed the woman whose face I can't see come near me.
"She is my daughter and I have the right to do with her as I please." The woman spat out as she came a step closer to daddy and I.
"You need to see a doctor, you need help. I don't know why it took me so long to see the signs that something is wrong with you." Dad said tightening his hold on my wrist with one hand and pulling his hair with the other.
Ding dong!
Ding dong!
The bell rang, but no one seemed ready to go answer it. So, being the nosy and hyperactive child that I was, I pulled away from dad and ran to get the door.
"Paige stop!" I heard dad scream and started hearing hurried footsteps coming closer to me.
I paid no heed to him and didn’t bother looking back.
"Dad its the cops." I said smiling up to the men dressed in police uniforms as I opened the door wider for them to come in, but my smile was short-lived as I felt a sudden sharp pain at my side.
I fell to the floor immediately, clutching my side.
"Paige are you okay?!" My vision was blurred but I could still see the tears flowing helplessly from dad's eyes.
I tried opening my mouth to respond but instead of words, blood gushed out. My lungs were beginning to fail me as my breathing became labored. I dont think I’ve ever been that terrified in my entire life.
"Mr. Collins, we should probably rush her to the hospital." One of the cops said looking down at me with pity.
My eyes almost flew out of their sockets when I looked sideways and saw my own pool of blood, but my attention was pulled away when I heard a loud scream.
"Leave me the fuck alone." It was the woman, and now I could see her face. It was mummy.
A cop was pulling her towards the door of the house. She kept shaking vigorously probably trying to free herself.
"You are lucky I didn't aim right, you should be dead by now. And that is exactly what you deserve you little bitch. You think you are daddy's little girl right?" She said as she was pulled out.
"I hate you and I hope you die soon."
That was the last thing she said before the door was shut and that was last thing I heard before I slowly started fading away.
"Mummy please don't go." I said with the last strength in me.

I woke up sweating profusely and instinctively, my hand went straight to my side. I don't know what I was hoping for, but the scar was still very much there.
It has been over three years since I last had this dream.
This wasn’t a good sign at all. My parents can’t know about this, they’ll freak out even more.
What could have triggered it?
