Chapter Five

Dad brought three body guards with us in the office. I already promised them that I won't run away, but he said it's for our protection. Protection from whom? Am I missing something here?

"Cindy this is Albert Lim, he's my assistant. Albert, I'd like you to meet my only daughter Cindy Anne Lopez." He reached his right hand for a handshake. I accepted it with a smile. I think he's mid 20's. He looked nice.

"Welcome to the company Ms. Cindy." He said while shaking my hand.

"Thank you Albert." I looked at Dad. "Where's my office?" I asked. He just chuckled.

"Albert, please guide Ms. Cindy to her office and tell her job description then follow me at the conference room." He tapped my back and left us in his office.

"Let's go Ms. Cindy. Please follow me." Albert opened the door. My three body guard followed us. Seriously?

I rolled my eyes. "Can you guys stay at the lobby? How can I work if you will be following me around?" I crossed my arms. "Ms. Cindy, that's our job. To follow you. I'm sorry." One of the guards said.

So annoying.

Some of the employee glances at us while walking. Who wouldn't? I have three large men at my back.

Albert opened a door. I'm expecting a spacious room but I saw six cubicles inside. I roamed my eyes. I don't see any private office here.

"Ms. Cindy, this room will be your office. You will be seating in the last cubicle at the right. This is the OJT room." Wait, what? OJT? I'm a trainee?

"Are you being serious right now? Me? I'm a trainee?" I asked. I shook my head in disbelief.

"Yes Ms. Cindy. The president personally gave your resume to the HR and asked if we have available slot here. You will do some clerical works -----

"Of course I know what a trainee does. I need to talk to my dad." I marched away.

How can he do this to me? This is so embarrasing. He will let me do clerical works? Oh my God! I'll be taking business management in college, get my MBA to help him with our business then I'll be a trainee now? I can't believe this.

"Where's the conference room? I'll talk to him now." I turned to Albert.

"Sorry Ms. Cindy, we can't go there. If you have any problem with your work, I can escort you to the HR Department." He simply said.

"I'll wait in his office." I said and left them. I thought I'll be having a great day.

I opened my bag and reached for my phone. I tried to call Arriana but her phone was out of coverage area. Same as Stefanie. What the hell?

I reached for my dad's office door but it's locked. It has finger print scanner and keypad to open it. Great.

"Do you know the code?" I asked Albert.

"No Ms. Cindy. I will call the President." He answered and reached for the wireless telephone.

"I'm sorry to disturb you Sir, but Ms. Cindy wants to go to your office." I looked at him and wait for the call to end.

"What now?" I asked.

"He said, trainee can't enter his office. You have to wait in the lobby until he finished his meeting. I'm really sorry." My mouth almost fell. Dad!

"I'll escort you there Ms. Cindy." He said.

"I know where the lobby is. Go to the meeting." I answered and started to walk.

Eric, one of my body guard push the elevator button to open. I'm so pissed right now.

I waited almost two hours in the lobby before dad called me. Actually he called one of my body guards to tell me that he will be waiting at the conference room for me. I don't know why he's acting like this.

I saw Albert's waiting for us outside the conference room. He opened the door for me. And there I saw dad, he's reading some papers. "Take a seat Cindy. Albert and boys you may leave us here." He instructed. Finally.

I sit near him. "Dad why did you assigned me as an intern? I don't get it. You said you want me to help you. How can I do that as an intern?" I pouted and crossed my arms.

"Ms. Cindy, first here in the office you can't call me 'dad'. You're allowed to call me Sir or Mr. President. We need to be formal here. We need to set an example to our co workers. Second, what's wrong in being an intern? Tell me." He put down the papers and faced me.

"I-i mean, I'm your daughter. I'm not comfortable being an intern." I admitted.

"Yes, you are my daughter. That's why I want you to know the basic. How can you run the business if you don't understand it? You're lucky I assigned you to be an intern. When I'm at your age? Your grandfather assigned me as a janitor of this company." I'm shocked. I didn't know that.

"I started at the bottom, learning and earning my way up. There's no harm in trying princess, I know I spoiled you, I'm partly to blame here. I gave you anything, everything that you wanted. Even the things that you didn't need, but now you have to earn everything. I want you to learn slowly but surely. Just like what I did. I can't give you privilage here because your the President's daughter. It will be unfair for the others. If you want to go up, you have to earn it. Work hard for it." I gulped. How can I do that?

"I will let Albert help you. But he's your superior, don't boss him around." He said and picked up his phone.

I don't know what to say.

"Do you have any questions? I need to review this proposal." He said.

"C-can my body guards wait outside our office? It maybe bothering for other interns to see them checking around." I said.

"Okay. Outside the intern office, I think that's okay. Anything else?" he asked.

"Will I be using the employee elevator?" I don't know what to ask honestly. I'm still shock that he wants me to be an intern. But I'm getting his point. He's right

He laughs.

"Of course, go back to your cubicle and start working. Oh Cindy." He shook his head while laughing. At least I gave him a good laugh.

ALIS P.O.VI looked at the clock on the wall and saw that it was 3:30. I never did ask Matthew what time my shift is finished. The only thing he did tell me was that I would start work at 7:30. Ugh! I wonder if I'll have enough time to get ready for the party Im going to with Mark tonight. I mean...I still have to meet up with Dillion at his house to help him and his sister Dina move their stuff to my apartment.

Daisy found nobody in the room and the door was also closed. She was feeling dizzy and weak but still while staggering she managed to stand up from the bed. Taking slow careful steps, she started walking towards the door, supporting the bed. She was feeling that suddenly her body started feeling heavy. Even walking was difficult for her. The gown, she was wearing was not of her size. It was a little loose but she felt comfortable in it.S

"Sixty-third. Sixty-third." Andrea Myles squinted through oversized sunglasses as she wedged the Crown Vic through New York traffic. "We're here. And I didn't say Anna was weird. I said she was unconventional."Crook Kingsman struggled to keep the growl out of his voice. "Some kind of psychic, isn't she? Anna Dumain. Sounds like a television tarot reader.""She's not a tarot reader." Andy braked and slipped into a rare parking space alongside Central park. "She's a scientist who studies... unusual things. She and her two cousins. They're like private investigators."Crooks gut tightened at Andy's I'm-holding-a-few-things-back tone. "And?" "And she's my friend, so you better be nice to her." "And?" He drummed his fingers on two thin, unmarked folders stacked between them on the Crown Vics seat.
