Chapter 8 Heading to the Old Tudor’s Residence

Author: Honey Pot
Leaving the harsh words of warning behind, Halley Amore turned and left in a huff.

Amelia's eyes glanced downward. She laughed, only for a brief moment, provokingly.

That afternoon, Amelia received a phone call from the Tudor residence’s caretaker, informing her about a fancy reception being held three days later at Tudor’s old residence.

The Tudors were the friends of the Amores and had a substantial influence over Tranquil City. Knowing that, one could only imagine the scale of which they threw events. Amelia knew that all too well and was supposed to be there two days earlier to help with the event. She would be overseeing every detail, from event planning to logistics.

Amelia gave Julian a call only to be left hanging. She did not try to call him again and decided to drive herself to the old Tudor residence the next day.

“Young mistress.”

The caretaker of the Tudor residence, Cullan Tudor, smiled brightly as he greeted Amelia.

“Morning Uncle Cullan, where is grandfather?”

“He is in the flower gardens. Please wait in the living room. I’ll look for grandfather.”

“That’s alright. I’ll do it.”

Amelia was still of the younger generation of the family. There was no reason for the elder generation to come greet her. She smiled after she spoke and turned towards the flower garden.

The old residence of the Tudor family was built and occupied by Julian’s great-great-great grandfather. The residence is at least two hundred years of age. After years of remodelling and rebuilding, one could still conceive the original structure of the residence. Additionally, Julian’s grandfather, Hendricks Tudor, preferred ancient things that came with stories. Hence, the current residence was modelled based on ancient design. As such, it had a certain individualism to its existence.

Even the greenery around the residence was based on a specific garden design. There was one exception to the antiquity and it was the modern flower glasshouse, hidden amongst the garden.

No one knew why it existed nor why Hendricks had a certain attachment to it.

It took Amelia about twenty minutes before she could catch a glimpse of the glasshouse and saw Hendricks sitting down, enjoying a cup of tea.

“Grandfather,” Amelia greeted with glee as she walked up to him.

“Amelia. Have a taste of this new tea that I just got yesterday! It’s high quality Biluochun.”

Hendricks was close to seventy, yet his body was strong and spry. Years of self-cultivating that granted him the presence of strength and confidence had subsided. Still, the man was not to be underestimated. In the presence of his one and only granddaughter-in-law, the man’s demeanor was nothing but kind and calming.

“Thank you, grandfather.”

Amelia was fond of Hendricks. She smiled as she took the cup of tea with both her hands before having a sip.

“Mhm! This is great! Such a fragrant aftertaste! The flavor is just as elegant as it is refreshing! Grandfather, I must say that you've outdone yourself yet again with the teapot!” Amelia praised.

“Aw… you flatterer!”

Hendricks laughed happily and poured Amelia another cup. He sprung a question.

“Where’s Julian? Why is he not with you?”

Amelia’s expression changed all of the sudden but she quickly masked it away. She smiled and said, “Julian is busy at the moment. I’ll give him a call later.”

“That little rascal. Just because he’s a little older he thought he could take on the world! Leave this to me. I’ll make the call.”

“I’ll leave him in your capable hands then, grandfather.”

There was no reason for Amelia to decline any help in contacting Julian.

“I’m sorry for troubling you with this reception.”

“Nonsense! I’m still your granddaughter-in-law! It should be my responsibility.”

Hendricks smiled and gently pats the back of her hands. He sighed with a hint of sorrow.

“If only Julian’s parent had not departed so soon, you wouldn’t be so busy. You are a good girl. Thank you for all the trouble you’ve saved us from.”

“It is alright, grandfather.”

Amelia Amore smiled and laughed as she consoled the old Hendricks while slickly changed the topic of conversation to something a little more gleeful to save the man from his own sadness.

In no time at all, Amelia got very busy. She was not home until ten at night and by then, she was dragging her tired body to the study room. She got her sleepwear ready and took a bath. However, halfway through her bath, the door to her room was flung open violently.

’Was father robbed?’Amelia frowned worriedly. After listening to Charles’ conversation, the situation might actually be dire. Amelia knocked on the door when she was sure no more conversation was taking place. She knew that Charles would never let Amelia know about such troubling matters. She hid her worries and went into the room with a bright smile, hoping that she could alleviate her father’s mood. “Father.” “Amelia. Have you eaten?” “Not yet. That’s why I came! To invite you for lunch. They’re serving steamed fish. It’s been too long since I had any and I’m so craving for them!” “Oh you… You shouldn’t be taking too much spices. You wouldn’t have to worry about pimples then.” “But your beautiful daughter has your flawless genes! I’m but a natural beauty! Why do I have to be afraid of pimples?” said Amelia with pride as she raised her chin. Charles was clearly happy to see his daughter. The smile on his face grew wider. “Come on then! Can’t let my sweet sweet daught

Halley laid, face down, on the shoe rack. Her legs trembled, as she endured the pain. She forced out a seductive smile and asked caringly, “Julian, what happened today? Who made you angry?” Julian’s face was still as he made his hair. He tossed aside a piece of tissue that he used to wipe it off. He hurriedly wore his pants. All the while ignoring Halley as he walked to the living room, annoyed, and sat down. Click, poof.He lit himself a cigarette. He blew out a puff of smoke and leaned back to the sofa. He had a look of sudden recalling when he finished his stick. He frowned and turned to her. “Get me a cup of water,” he said annoyingly. Halley’s body was in incredible pain. Her legs were still shaking, not yet fully recovered. The sudden decree with his unpleasant tone made her only distraught. She endured the pain and tried her best to put on her nightgown. She even intentionally revealed her breasts, which had bruises marked all over them because of how roughly they wer

Fatigue. Amelia was exhausted. So much so she could not move her fingertips. There she was, lying on the soft bed. Her eyes were unfocused and blank. She wanted to sleep but she could not do it. Not in a hotel. She never had the habit of sleeping in a hotel. Additionally, the sun had just set and she still needed to go back. Her head cocked a little, only just enough to be able to visually see Quinlan. He was putting on his tie. His fingers, of joints that were distinctly visible, moved with such dexterity around the fabric of the tie. It took him only a moment or two to finish the job. His shirt was his beacon to the world; no one else could have worn a shirt better than Quinlan. Of course, Amelia would not admit that. The man noticed Amelia looking at him and turned to her, neither slowly nor hurriedly. It was just a simple nod, yet the man’s overbearing, overwhelming pheromones only made him extremely sultry. “If I’m right, fuck buddies don’t usually socialize after se

”Let go. I want to go back.” Amelia bit her lips. She tried with all her might to push Quinlan away. The man effortlessly caught her hands. He held them high above her head while one of his legs pushed hers apart. The two bodies plastered to each other, sharing and feeling each other’s warmth. “Never,” said Quinlan, with the most mischievous tone. Fully intentional, he even licked and kissed her supple lips. He did not stop there. He teasingly bit her lips lightly. The overbearing, overwhelming smell of cologne on Quinlan’s body only made Amelia’s mind drift. She was cursing herself for not being strong enough to resist the temptation. But she could do nothing. Even if she was not infatuated by the man, she could never resist the man's charm. “You like this, don’t you.” Quinlan’s softened voice — both inviting yet mischievous — was like the devil himself. Amelia clenched her hands tight. She wanted to resist but as if she had lost control of her mind, she confessed, “I

”Very well, father. I shall take my leave then. If Amelia is still feeling ill, please tell her to rest in her office. I will come for her later.” “Go. Work is important.” Charles waved his hands and Julian left after he gathered his things. Coincidentally, Charles’ own phone rang. It was one of his old friends from the stock market trades. He had moved his entire company overseas a few years ago. The two had not seen each other for more than a year. So, when Charles received his call, he was happy. “Right now? Sure. I’ll conclude my business here and go.” Charles hesitated for a while and agreed to meet the person on the other line. “Is there trouble? Brother Amore?” “An old friend of mine has just returned home. He’s got something for me and wants me to see him,” said Charles apologetically. After all, he was the one who had invited Quinlan for dinner. The meal had only just started and he was already leaving. “Go, Brother Amore. Let me take care of Amore. I’ll send h

Amelia received a call from Charles, inviting her to a meal with them. The sudden revelation almost got Amelia to destroy the drafts of the designs she was working on. That disgusting Quinlan was still around. The thought of actually having a meal with him later gave Amelia a mild headache. She wanted no more than to find an excuse to let herself out of the situation but she could not bring herself to ruin her father’s mood. The three of them got out of the elevator and as they were exiting the hall on the first floor, Julian was there, walking towards them. “Father, Amelia.” Julian increased his pace to greet them all but was surprised to see Quinlan with them. “Youngest Uncle, why are you here?” Amelia’s heart sank a little when Julian brought up that question. If her father revealed that Julian was the one who had given her a ride to work, she would have no idea what to do then. “I’m here to learn a thing or two from Brother Amore.” Quinlan answered first.
