Chapter 12 The First Feeling After Entering

That night, John entered the Snowden’s house. It was not that Natalie did not stop him, it was just that he was unstoppable.

It was warm!

He had never liked big houses since young. He felt like it lacked a human touch. That was why he continued to stay in his apartment. If the old master had not asked him to move back, he would continue living at his place.

But even though his apartment was not big, it still felt like it lacked something compared to the Snowden’s 50 square feet little house.

The human touch?

“It’s cleaner than I expected.”

It was not a good nor bad comment. Natalie only looked at him and then turned around to change her shoes. “It’s nothing compared to your place, Mr. Winters.”

He was sure that his comment was not malicious, but the person listening to it did not feel that way.

John was a man, so he should not be petty about this, but he still could not help being ironic. “Yeah, I almost forgot that doctors are neat freaks.”

After he said that, it was as if he was trying to prove something. He ran his finger on top of her table and then looked at it. He laughed.

Indeed, it was immaculate!

“I’m always busy, so Howie’s the one who does the cleaning.”

The cold reply defeated him again. John was not mad this time. He only praised with a smile on his face, “What an amazing brother.”

When she heard that, Natalie’s eyebrows twitched. She could not help but feel that there was sarcasm in that sentence. Eventually, she decided to ignore it.

After she changed her shoes, she put out her arm to block the door. “Thank you for sending me back.”

“What do you mean?”

It was obvious that she was asking him to leave.

However, the other party did not plan to leave. He raised his eyebrows. “Are you asking me to leave?”

It was a simple question, yet Natalie’s back went cold from his imposing manner. She refused to compromise. “When we were coming up, I thought we had an agreement. Plus, it’s so late now. It’s not a good time to move, right?”

John did not smile. He said slowly, “I didn’t say that you have to move tonight. But, I also didn’t say that I won’t be staying here tonight.”

Finishing his words, he pushed her to one side without even caring about her attempts to stop him. He strode into the house.

“You… We had an agreement...”

Natalie’s heart tightened and she raised her voice unconsciously. Before she could finish her sentence, her brother’s room door opened.

Howard was standing at the door, dressed in a singlet top and a pair of shorts. He looked at her and turned his head to glance at the man next to her. He said, “You guys are too loud.”

“...”

Natalie’s face turned red. When she was about to explain to her brother, John said out of nowhere, “We just got married so it’s only natural that we’re loud. The house is small so you will have to make do. It’s going to be better tomorrow.”

When he heard that, Howard’s cold eyes darkened. “Sis, what’s going on?’

After starting this fire, the culprit did not even plan to clean up his mess. He looked at Natalie as if he was asking her to take care of this. Then, he walked straight into Natalie’s room. Before closing the door, he said, “You should explain to him. I’m going to bed.”

“Hey! You…”

Howard was in his teenage years. Despite being mature for his age, it did not mean that he was not rebellious.

When he saw John’s attitude, he was fuming. Seeing her brother was about to go fight John, Natalie hurried over and hugged her brother by the waist.

She dragged him back to his room. “Howie, let’s talk in your room.”

Even though Howard was reluctant, he was still dragged by his sister to his room. After a few minutes, Howard’s roars almost lifted the roof of their house. “What? You’re married?”

“Yeah, so he’s your brother-in-law now.”

“Sis, are you crazy? He’s John Winters.”

Natalie was contemplating how to introduce John to Howie. But when she heard this, she was surprised. “You know him?”

“He even asked someone to come to our house. How would I not know him?”

When he thought about having to quit school because of John, it was difficult for Howard to feel good about him. However, that was not the worst thing. Now his sister was…

“Since you know who he is, please don’t go and provoke him.”

“He was the one provoking us…”

When he said that, Howard’s chest started heaving. “Plus, Shears is his brother-in-law, right? What will you do when you see that bastard now that you’re with him?”

“How do you know this?”

“Sis, I’m not a kid anymore. I know everything.”

He knew everything indeed. Just because he was aware of everything, he felt more pitiful of his sister. Now, the impulsive teen grabbed his sister by her shoulders and asked, “Sis, tell me the truth. Did he force you? Did he force you with my education?”

“No, it’s because…”

It was indeed, but she could not tell him that now.

So, Natalie avoided telling the truth and explained softly, “I have an agreement with him. I’ll be his wife for three months. After three months, I’ll be free.”

“Three months? You’ll be a divorced second-hand woman even if you divorce him after three days, don’t you know that?”

As he said this, his eyes were red. He had always been strong. “Plus, you’re going to bring a child-in-law into your next marriage which is me. Who would want you next time?”

She did not expect her brother to be bothered by this. Natalie felt warmth in her chest, and she caressed her brother’s head. “I won’t want a man who’s bothered by my divorce, bothered by me being a second-hand woman, or even bothered by my amazing brother.”

“Sis…”

Howard’s eyes were even redder now. Natalie was comforting him now. “I’ve already got the marriage certificate. I can’t change anything even if you scream at me.”

After she said that, Natalie fondled her brother’s hair that was messy from sleep. “Howie, do you trust me?”

Howard did not say anything. Natalie asked, “If you trust me, then please endure this three months for me, okay?”

After being in a daze, Natalie finally came back to her senses. She grabbed a blanket and went out of the room.
