"Still no response. Are you sure she's really Trevon's wife?"

"How could I be wrong? Trevon legally married her, indeed!"

"I've called Trevon five or six times and even sent him a message saying his wife has been kidnapped. We set a deadline for him to ransom her, but why is there no reaction from him at all?"

Cindy had been kidnapped.

Cindy pressed her lips together, a smile playing on her lips. "You know, he's Trevon. He does not take calls from strangers. Can you please give me my phone back? I'll call him, and he'll definitely answer."

The two kidnappers exchanged a glance. Their main goal was money, not death on their conscience. So based on what Cindy said, they were willing to give it a try. Trevon was the first contact on Cindy's phone, labeled as "Mr. Gilson."

Cindy dialed his number.

After three calls, Trevon finally picked it up.

"Mr. Gilson, I've been kidnapped. Can you come and ransom me?" Cindy appeared calm, but her slightly quivering breath betrayed her alarm. There was a moment's pause, and then, without a word, Trevelyan hung it up.

The silence on the line stunned Cindy for a moment.

Accustomed as she was to his cold indifference, the contempt he displayed for her life shook her to the core.

"Damn it! I knew she was of no value to Trevon." The kidnapper became furious, raising his hand to strike Cindy, but was stopped by the other kidnapper. "Bro, look, isn't that Trevon over there?" Cindy also redirected her gaze to the television.

There, she saw a well-dressed man leading a curvaceous woman into a restaurant. During their conversation, the woman had said something, and Trevon had bowed his head a little in a gesture of extreme tenderness.
