« En dehors… » avant que l'employée n’ait pu terminer sa phrase, la directrice du magasin, anxieuse, est sortie en courant.

« Elle est où ? » a demandé la directrice très inquiète.

« Elle s'est enfuie en panique, c’est probablement une voleuse. » a murmuré une autre employée. Dans l’une des meilleures boutiques de luxe des Etats-Unis, cette femme est apparue, ayant l’air affolé et déconfit. C’était sûr qu’elle était une voleuse !

La directrice a foncé les sourcils en regardant longuement le pendentif dans la main : « C’est le cadeau que notre patron a offert à la demoiselle lors de sa 18e anniversaire. Je l’ai vu dans un magazine. »

« La demoiselle ? Vous voulez dire l’héritière du Groupe DR aux Etats-Unis qui a été kidnappée et puis tuée, et dont le cadavre n’a pas encore été trouvé ? »

Candice s’est cachée dans un cabinet de débarras du centre commercial. Elle na savait pas si le pendentif était cher ni si cette boutique pouvait l'échanger contre de l'argent. Mais elle se sentait particulièrement familière à la marque de cette boutique.

« Je viens de la voir, elle n’est pas loin de nous. » les hommes de Monsieur Vincent étaient encore en train de la chercher. Si elle était rattrapée, Monsieur Vincent la ferait certainement avorter.

Candice a pleuré impuissamment, elle n’osait même pas respirer pour ne pas faire de bruit.

« Tu n’es pas sage, Candice. » la lumière du cabinet a été allumé, Noah a dit avec impatience en s’appuyant au mur. Il l’a cherchée en personne, quel honneur pour une imbécile sans valeur.

« Noah… » Candice s’est reculée avec horreur, effrayée comme si elle avait vu diable venu de l'enfer.

Noah avait été son ange, mais maintenant…

« Ne me fais pas de mal. » a supplié Candice en pleurant, elle ne voulait pas avorter le bébé.

« Rentre à la maison avec moi. » a dit Noah indifféremment sans parler de l’avortement.

Candice l’a regardé avec méfiance, ne comprenant pas pourquoi il a changé son attitude.

« Noah… »

« Candice, tu veux te marier avec moi ? » a dit Noah sans expression, en s’approchant d’elle pas à pas.

Effrayée, Candice a reculé en tremblant. Se marier avec lui ? Elle n’a même pas osé y penser !

« Réponds-moi ! »

Sursautant, Candice a dit en frissonnant : « Noah, ne veux-tu plus te marier avec Ambre ? »

« Que dirais-tu si je ne l’épousais pas pour t’épouser ? » a souri Noah en allumant sa cigarette.

Candice regardait Noah avec panique, elle n’y croyait pas, mais elle n’a pas pu s’empêcher de l’espérer.

« Noah… »

« Es-tu digne de moi ? »

Candice a entendu se briser son cœur, profondément.

« Es-tu digne de moi ? » En une seule phrase, c'était comme si Noah l’avait condamnée à mort.

Il s’est moqué d’elle, il a ironisé. Quelle peine qu’il lui a infligée !

Les étoiles dans ses yeux se sont éteintes. Il n’y avait plus de lumière dans ses yeux.

Dans une location sur la Rue de l’Ouest.

« Tu habites dans ce logement dès aujourd’hui. N’apparais pas devant moi, ni devant Ambre pour la déranger, sauf que je te cherche. C’est clair ? »

Noah a jeté un rapide regard autour de la salle, ayant l’air dégoûté. Il avait demandé à Nathan de trouver un logement, et ce bâtard est allé jusqu’à un quartier de taudis.

Mais cela n’a pas dérangé Candice, c’était déjà bien d’avoir un hébergement.

« Noah… » il n’allait pas lui faire avorter le bébé ?

« Tu peux avoir cet enfant pourvu que tu sois sage. »

Noah l’a tirée dans ses bras et a dit ayant vu ses pieds gelés et saignants : « Tu ne sais pas qu'il fait froid ? »

Candice en tremblant de peur, ne savait plus si elle devait le croire. Elle ne comprenait pas pourquoi Noah a changé d’idée, mais elle n’a pas osé de lui demander.

« Je serai obéissante. » a répondu Candice en hochant la tête, la lumière dans ses yeux s’est éteinte petit à petit.

« Laves-toi les pieds, il n’y aura personne qui s’occupera de toi. Comment peux-tu élever un enfant si tu ne sais même pas de prendre soin de toi-même ? »

Pour la première fois, Noah n’est pas parti tout de suite, il a même mis de l’eau chaude dans un bassin pour la laisser laver les pieds.

Candice n’était pas habituelle à cette gentillesse manifestée par Noah, elle est devenue plus tendue. Elle a craint que Noah ne se moque d’elle, de sa naïveté bientôt.

Cette location était humide, pleine d’odeur de moisi. Il n’y avait pas de chauffage ni de climatiseur.

Bien sûr, Noah n’y ai pas fait attention. Ayant regardé l’heure, il est devenu un peu impatient.

« Prends de l’eau et repose-toi. Demain, je t’emmènerai acheter des vêtements et un smartphone. »

Enfin, dans cette location, il n’y avait pas de servante pour la soigner.

Candice regardait Noah, ayant l’air troublée : pourquoi il a brutalement commencé à s’occuper d’elle ?
