2023-12-01 14:18:53I mean, don't get me wrong, I was worried, but she said she didn't want to talk so I didn't push it. I should've. We did have fun that weekend. First, we saw Lion King in the cinema then we went for dinner at McDonald's. After, all of us being pretty stuffed, we decided against bowling and went back to May's instead for a sleepover.
"Hey… let's play truth or dare!" May said, turning around to us. I smiled as we moved to form a circle, May taking another bite of the chocolate bar in her hand. Brie used the moment to her advantage,"So, May… Truth or dare?" The other girl looked up in shock, her mouth full to the brim with chocolate. It took her a second to gulp it down before she narrowed her eyebrows and glared over at Brie. The two had a silent staring match before May broke contact in defeat letting out a sigh."Fine!" Brie rolled her eyes as the raven-haired girl said this, "I pick… dare." Instantly, a mischievous look filled Brie's face.
"I dare you to get some of your dad’s vodka…" She murmured causing May to open her mouth in protest. However, the girl was immediately shot down by the raise of Brie's eyebrows."Alright, but if I get in trouble for this, and I will, this is all your fault…" As May turned to leave the room, Brie landed her eyes on Thalia who was sat beside me on the bed."Truth or dare?" She asked and Thalia smiled."Dare." The redhead said quickly, grinning. To my surprise, Brie then turned to me."Go on Mels, pick her a dare…" Brie said, grinning. Instantly, my nerves picked up and I began to fumble with my fingers in my lap.
"Shouldn't we wait… for May? Doesn’t the last person to go get to pick the dare?" I asked nervously. To this, Brie just looked at Thalia."This one is the master of dares. I don’t know how or why our sweet Melody is so good at forcing someone to do something but she is and on top of that, she’s just… stupidly modest.""I’m not being modest!" I protested, "I just think we should wait..." And as if by fate, in came May."Oooo, is Mel picking a dare? That’s something I don’t want to miss!" She sat beside us, pouring a cup of vodka for Brie and herself. Knowing that I don’t really drink too often, she doesn’t ask me if I want some but instead turns to Thalia, holding up the bottle in question.
"Just a little…" She murmured."Drain it…" I muttered slightly, quiet enough for everyone to ask what I was saying and have to repeat it again."Well…" Thalia looked down at the cup in thought."You don't have to if you don’t want to. I just thought it was a good dare, but I don’t want to pressure you into doing something you don’t want to…" I mumbled, hoping desperately that she didn’t hate me."Calm down," She murmured, placing a hand lightly on my shoulder which sent tingles up my spine. Then, she raised the cup to her lips, taking a second to drink before draining the whole cup."Okay, your turn…” She said, turning to me. I smiled,
"Truth." This one word caused a mass uproar in the room, so much so that May had to make sure that everyone knew her parents were sleeping in the room above."Alright fine… but you better make it juicy Thalia…" Brie said eventually, obviously still annoyed that I went for what she liked to call the ‘cowards’ option."Um…" Thalia seemed to be pondering the situation deeply, staring into the distance before snapping back to focus, "What’s the thing in your life that you regret the most?""Deep. I like it." Brie said as she pulled her blonde hair from its ponytail, letting it unravel down her back.
I took a moment to think about this one, looking back at some of my most embarrassing moments before realising that it wasn’t something embarrassing that I regretted most. What I regretted most was something that I had to remind myself every day wasn't worth the regret. What I regretted most was not facing my dad when he left- staying silent as I watched him walk through the door for what I thought would be the last time. However, I wasn’t going to tell them that so I picked one of my most embarrassing moments instead."Well in first grade, I was asked to bring miss the paint from the back of the class and as I was
walking back I, managed to trip over on a pencil. To my luck, some of the lids weren’t screwed
on properly and it went everywhere… Definitely something I regret. Miss made me clean it all
up after school." Thalia looked at me sceptically as I said this but everyone else seemed happy
with the answer.

It was later that evening after Brie and May were asleep; The two of them had slept on the bed
whilst Thalia and I were sitting on the floor. We’d played a couple of games and had ended up
putting on a few films. Brie had fallen asleep during Twilight: Breaking Dawn Pt2. Honestly, I
hated those films, the acting was terrible and all they seemed to do was stare at each other.
Although, the actress who played Bella was extremely pretty. Brie had been obsessed with
the saga since she was younger, according to May. She wasn’t really one to read but she had
read all of the twilight books and watched the films all at least five times- I think she may be
partly in love with Robert Patterson.
The film ended and Thalia rolled over on the duvet so that she was facing me.
"That was…"
"Terrible," I said and we both laughed silently. A blanket of silence covered us for a couple
seconds before Thalia turned to look up at the ceiling.
"What's the craziest thing you’ve ever done?" She said, thoughtfully.
"Talk to an actual human…" I murmured and she whacked me on the shoulder playfully.
“I'm serious!” She exclaimed, giving me time to think about it. After a few seconds,
I replied.
“The craziest thing I’ve ever done is… Take music as an option…” I said, truthfully. She raised
her eyebrows,
“Really?” She asked.
“Really… it’s my dream but… it’s so incredibly far away…”
“I understand that…” She murmured, causing me to look up at her.
“How so?”
“Well, my main goal is to be successful, you know? And music doesn’t get me there…” She said,
biting her lip softly.
“Depends what you determine as success…” I muttered, causing her to turn her head towards
me.
“Like… good money, nice house…” She trailed off, obviously rethinking what she was about to
say.
“Is that all success should be though? Shouldn’t you just want to be… happy?” I said, staring
up into the darkness.
“Are you happy? Now I mean…” I took a second to ponder this question. Am I happy?
“I’m happier…”

I woke up at seven. The only other person not asleep was Thalia, however, she wasn't in the room either. I walked slowly down the stairs and found the door to the bathroom propped open a little. I placed my hand lightly on the door handle opening it. Thalia was there staring into the mirror, a kind of, lost look on her face. She glanced over at me as I approached,
"Hey," she said smiling a little, the imprint of a tear nestled into the crook of her nose. I walked closer, taking her hand in mine and rested my head on her shoulder. A light tingle brushed past my spine."Everything's going to be okay. It'll all work out in the end. "I whispered as to not wake up any of the others. She grinned sadly fixing her gaze back on the mirror,"I hope so." She breathed lightly. Then she looked at me. "I really hope so." As our gazes locked, I stared into her soft blue-green eyes. It was like being lost in a mystical forest; you know you must find your way home yet; all you want to do is explore more."Hey, you wanna work on that song?" I said a little more cheerfully, lifting my head from her shoulder. She smiled, for (What I hope) was real this time and nodded.
"I'd love too."
