chapter 13

I followed Xavier down to the garage and we jumped into the back of a limo. He kept on rocking her back and forth trying to make her calm down but it didn't work.

She held my finger tightly as she cried and my heart thumped crazily once we arrived at the hospital Xavier jumped out and I followed as he ran straight inside.

Xavier's pov

I held Amber tightly as I ran into my private hospital with Deluca following behind, what's happening to her.

I took her into a room and placed her on the bed gently, the doctor came in and asked Habiba and I to wait outside. I was just about argue when she dragged me out. Habiba sat down and put her head in her hands but all I could do was pace the hallway.

It had been an hour and I couldn't control my anger anymore, the adrenaline rushing through my veins caused me to start punching the brick walls.

" what the fuck is taking them so long!" I yelled, I was about to pound the door down when a soft hand curled around my bicep. My head whipped around to see Habiba, she pulled me slightly and looked down. I felt the tingles shoot down my arm but ignored it, I'm not gonna fall into that bullshit again. Placing my mask on I growled at her.

" don't, she's stopped crying don't start breaking the door down please" she said with small hiccups and tears interrupting her, my heart stopped for a second. It's not even her daughter but she's worried, without realizing what I did I grabbed her and pulled her in for a tight hug and she didn't reject my contact for once.

When it hit me that I actually hugged her I was gonna push away but I hate to admit that I love it, her sniffling stopped but she carried on shaking and squeezing my white shirt.

After a few minutes I moved in the direction of the chairs and sat down with her on my lap, she's asleep other wise I know she would have jumped and maybe slapped me. She curled up into a ball and nuzzled her head on my chest. Glancing down at her covered body I prayed she wouldn't move, if she even shuffles an inch theres going to be an uncontrollable situation in my pants.

I can't like her, I can't change again just to be broken, I have to keep my hard exterior and not let her in. The only reason I'm with her is because she needs to look after Amber cause, I don't want Amber to get involved or in danger because of what I do. I need to protect her with everything I've got.

The warmth of Deluca made me slowly start to drift of to sleep but as soon as my eyes shut I heard a door open. I almost jumped out of my seat but just in time remembered Deluca on my lap.

The doctor approached me with an unreadable expression plastered on his face, my heart beat increased unsteadily.

" Can I speak to you in my office Mr Santos?" he asked nervously, I nodded a yes and carefully picked up Habiba's legs and put my hand under her thighs.

I carried her like a baby to the office because I don't want to wake her before getting the information. I sat down and placed her on my lap again whilst waiting for the doc to talk, he pulled out his chair and sat down with a big folder his hand.

" is this your wife sir?" He questioned whilst staring at Habiba, my fist involuntarily clenched and I glared at him

" this is not my wife, why?" 
He showed me an x-Ray of Amber, analysing the picture my eyes widened at the sight of her lungs. The seem to be crumbling.

" no reason, anyways her lungs and liver are very weak she will have to stay in hospital for a week under observation but otherwise it's not too serious we can get her better slowly" How could this happen to her, she was healthy just yesterday! I was so vexed that my body moved uncontrollably.

I ended up accidentally pushing Habiba making her shoot awake with a jump, she rubbed her eyes before they widened in surprise seeing me. Pushing my chest she quickly jumped of my lap and onto the seat next to me. Fucking Muslim.

She glanced around the room carefully before spotting doc, her eyes widened once again but this time in anticipation.

" how is she?" she asked hopefully, the doc stood up with a sad look looming over him. Grabbing his folder he backed away from the desk.

" I need to get back to her, Mr Santos will explain" and then he left.

Habiba stood in front of me with her arms crossed. 
" how is she" she asked again,
I got up from my seat and rubbed my temples in annoyance.

" her lungs are weak and so is her liver" I tried to say with no emotion but even I heard the waver in my voice, I looked down to see Habiba in tears again but she didn't stand there, she ran out.
