“I said wait!”
The man in front of her finally snapped. He dragged her by her hand into the woods next to them where he pinned her against a tree and grunted,
“My name in the world is Gabriel, you know right?”
Startled by the sudden moves, Holly nervously stared back at a pair of glaring eyes above her,
“I-I know!”
Gideon’s frustrated frown began to form when he realized that the girl must have forgotten their purpose.
“This is our first mission. One wrong turn and we’re done for. Do you understand?!” he raised his voice as he tightened his squeeze.
“Y-Yeah!” Holly answered.
The towering man slowly loosened his grip. He was so bothered by the dim-witted look on her face that he loudly questioned himself inside his head what did he care of a fool like her.
Forget it.
Holly caught him by his sleeve once he released her, “Then…how do we do this?” she asked in a low voice. Gideon let out an exasperated sigh,
“Let’s take one step at a time. Let’s head home first.”
“Okay…”
Holly calmly let go of Gideon’s sleeve and walked out of the woods. Gideon watched her back in silence as he was lost for words. He still could not believe that the headquarters put him to work with her in this mission.
Whatever happened to ‘the greater the ability, the greater the responsibility.’
Gideon felt he worked with his hands tied this time but still, his conscience could not leave Holly alone so he had to let her follow him.
As the three thousand worlds spawned more and more light aircrafts, small planes were prone to a crash or suffer fatal blows.
In order to maintain the peace and tranquility of the three thousand worlds, the headquarters sent some of its best agents to guide all planes into harmony. Among those delegated on a mission were Gideon and Holly, Sacramento College’s students. Their school was one of the leading colleges in the three thousand worlds. However, a dire fate awaited Sacramento College as written in the Book of Destiny. The divine prophecy said that the prestigious school would turn to dust within a month.
Gideon and Holly were tasked with a mission to prevent the calamity to happen and protect everyone in the school.
The horrifying thought about hell on earth as shown in the Book of Destiny sent chills down Holly’s spine that she unconsciously reached for Gideon’s strong arm and clung to him. Gideon for once again was lost for words.
The two agents arrived at their neighboring houses. Gideon walked Holly to her door and said, “Alright, you go in. Call me if you need anything.” But she seemed aghast to enter the house. Gideon then glanced at her,
“What’s wrong? Are you scared?”
Holly shook her head.
“You sure?” Gideon raised his eyebrows slightly.
“No” Holly replied hesitantly, “I don’t know what am I scared of but I just feel a little bit…afraid.”
For god sake can they move me to another mission?
Holly sniffed, “Why don’t you come to my house?” there was an awkward silence between them and so she dared herself to say, “Or…should I come to yours?”
Her and Gideon’s family had known each other for good. Before Gideon could even answer her, her eyes were lit up when she pledged, “Just say you will tutor me for homework, okay?!”
Gideon asked how he’d suddenly became smart right now.
“I think I’ll go back and talk to my family first.”
“Let me come with you!” Holly held his arm.
Gideon gave up to her demand and let her follow him back home. He talked to his family then went straight to his room. Holly casually threw her bag on the floor and happily bounced to Gideon’s bed.
“Oh my…! It’s so soft!” Her eyes caught a bag of snacks at the bedside which made her eyes flashed, “Gideon! Gideon! Can I eat those??”
Are you serious?
Gideon sighed feebly, “Go on.”
