2023-12-01 20:50:26"Anne, Jane come downstairs please" my mum yelled at the top of her lungs. She sounded like we were both in trouble.What could have gone wrong, I thought to myself. I tried to recall if I had forgotten to take out the trash again or was it the unfolded laundry i was lazy to clear out, oh well, I was done for this time.
With reluctance I walked out my room.Jane and I walked out our rooms simultaneously with the look on our faces that read fear of being grounded again.
We both sat on the couch close to the air conditioner as we knew nothing about being called for a sit down would be cool.
Few minutes later Dad walked in with a straight face.
I could feel my throat getting dry,my thoughts were everywhere. Why would Mum and Dad have called, my mind could not help but wonder. "How was school today", Dad asked sternly.He could be strict and excessively protective, but he is still the best father in the world. "It was Amazing, career day was more than I expected " I said ,almost getting giddy as flashes of the day came back to my mind. I wanted to tell them about my dream of having two careers. I wanted to be a Doctor so much as well a fashion designer. A part of me loved to create and it was mostly creation of fashionable clothing, I could cringe at the sight of mistyled attires or poor designs. I also loved to help people trying to solve a health problem made me excited and after watching Grey's Anatomy series, I could not help but fall in love with the medical profession over again.
I decided sooner or later they would know about my dreams so telling them now would be best,but soon after my first sentence I was cut short by Dad.
"I and Your Mum have decided that you are going to College in Canada".
Owwkkk hold on, one moment please,I needed to take this in. My mind was in disarray, did he just say he was sending me away for college, to another country? Was he trying to send me away? But I'm his baby girl.
"Sorry I didn't get that" were the only words I could mutter. I could not believe what I heard it was a lot to take in. My Father repeated the same words. I was utterly confused. "I have an opinion to what is good for me,don't I? Why don't you ever ask how I feel about a situation". And with those words I ran upstairs.
That was a bit dramatic, but I was upset. It felt like no one cared to know what I truly wanted. Urrgh!!
Few minutes later,mum walked in on me listening to music and pondering on actions and words that played out some minutes back.
"I can't go far away mum" I said, sobbing. "Canada is far from home".Do you even know what I want mum,do you even care? With those word I broke out in tears.
Sadness filled her eyes as it was unbearable to watch me cry.she laid down on my bed with me wrapping her arms around me, till I fell asleep.
