chapter 5

Rey slowly opened the palm of her hand, she sighed in relief, it was all clear, she had healed or rather it was back to normal, it was like as if nothing had happened.

She looked around to the stillness of the air around her, all the celebrations of Halsey winning against her had died down.

It was obvious just how much she missed home, she missed being at a place where she could sit and watch everyone practise their gifts or powers freely, where many young ones were taught what it meant to handle a fighting weapon.

She so much wished to be around her mother, her family, the other people who all lived in Octus Nova.

She missed how the monitors alerted her when there was uninvited guests in her quotas, she so much missed being in charge, being in a position where her yes or no was not questioned.

She undoubtedly missed exploring the entire realm and the other states back home to just know how everyone was fairing, she missed where her heart belonged.

"Want to talk about it?" She turned around to see Eli sitting peacefully beside her.

"No." She shook her head.

"Am a good listener." He said softly and she breathed, she was so tensed around him that it made her uncomfortable but she managed to hid that.

"Is it about the prophecy?"

He asked and she wanted to turn around and avoid him, but she just couldn't, she just stared at him not blinking even once, the was a reason why she didn't want to talk about what Vee had because but it was true though, all the talk about what would befall one of the Vastens was a sore subject not only to her but to everyone she was associated with back home and the queen, her mother had warned everyone against talking about the prophecy going as far as threatening anyone who would disobey her wishes.

"The prophecy is true." Rey exhaled.

"Oh." And that's all he managed to say.

"I mean, I don't think you should be worried about a bunch of prophecies just because they were said or written years ago." He added.

"A bunch?" She raised an eyebrow at him.

"Let me say it this way, some prophecies which are not even worth thinking about."

"Your launguage is very light." She smiled.

"Sorry, but Rey I believe people make their own future, it doesn't have to be determined by something that someone says or does." He said camly.

"Not where I come from." She shook her head.

"Rey," He reached out for her hands and held them for a few seconds and when she didn't flinch he kept them there.

"I know we are not the same, we are from different earths, we are not alike in any way, but trust in yourself, take a chance at what you believe in, I believe you are stronger than that, I do not think you are someone who can be defined by anything."

"It's just..." She let go of his hands on hers.

"What?"

"I think the prophecy is being fulfilled." She said to him as bad as it kept her in a place she wasn't willing to be at, she knew what it was to maybe finally open up and with Vee there maybe just maybe it wouldn't be so bad.

"What I have to say, I will say it to all of you." She added and he slightly smiled at her, helped her get on her feet and they walked back inside where they left Ellen and the two sisters.

"So I guess I owe you all an explanation, about the prophecy." She took a sit beside Ellen.

"Vee."

"Princess."

"Read it out for them."

"The crown Princess, born A.R.V-"

"Wait whose initials are A.R.V?" Halsey cut Vee off.

"A stands for Arillia, R stands for whoevers name will start with that or me perhaps and V stands for Vasten." Rey said to her.

"So you are Princess Arillia Rey Vasten?" Eli asked and she just nodded.

"The crown Princess A.R.V, the one who will be the link between the earthly ones and her own people. She who will pocess the two most powerful gifts since the reigning of Queen Arillia Ulyss Vasten the first and because of her bloodline she will stand in at both worlds as their only hope of a better past and a better future and though the darkness larks around in her it will remain the only reason the Crown Princess surpasses her most difficult times in her entire life even after bonding with the enemies. Guided by her heart, protected by her own kind and helped by many." Vee explained and for a minute or so, everyone remained silent, Rey too, she had heard that since she was young, and when her mother had warned anyone against repeating those words she had forced herself to forget they were ever kept in the royal library but now, what those words meant were just so surreal to pretend they weren't true in any way.

"Do you think it's you?" Ellen turned to her.

"Maybe." She answered her.

"Is that why you don't like the name Crown Princess?" Halsey asked and she looked up to face her, she wanted to say yes or no at the same time but she just couldn't and she knew that she had to explain why.

"I was going to be named the Crown Princess years back and I didn't want to because I knew what the prophecy had said but my dad talked me into it and at the end I agreed but then that same day I was going to be crowned he was found dead in his chambers."

"Am sorry." Halsey said to her, it was a genuine am sorry for your loss but she took no notice of that.

"And so she ended up refusing to be named the Crown Princess to date." Vee explained.

"And your mom?" Haley asked.

"My mom what?" Rey raised an eyebrow at her.

"Wasn't she ever the Crown Princess?" She rephrased her question.

"She could have been but my grandmother died earlier so she was just crowned as queen." Rey said firmly.

"What about the one who made that prophecy can't you talk to him so that you can at least know what you will encounter?" Haley asked Rey.

"Days after he made that into writing my great grandmother took his life for speaking ill of the royals." Rey exclaimed.

Oh, now I think am glad I was born human.

Haley thought.

"Yeah you should, there is a reason why everyone remembers what transpired in Octus Nova over a hundred years ago." Rey said.

"Sorry Rey, I forgot you can read minds." Haley apologised to her.

"Wait, she can what now?" Both Eli and Halsey asked in unison.

"Been reading you two all this time." She smiled.

"So that's your first gift?"

"No," Rey shook her head.

"I inherited it from my mom." She added.

"So you are yet to figure out your two powers?" Halsey wondered.

"Yes, I think I may have an idea of the first one, the second one I don't know what it is." Rey answered.

"What is it?" Eli asked.

"If they all do manifest themselves in me on time, you'll see just hope that I won't be so careless and take your lives." She said to all four of them, and they chuckled, and she hoped that they knew just how much she wasn't joking, gaining new powers to anyone back home never brought out positive results, there was a lot of consequence that came with them whether it was self harm or third part but it happened and that's all she needed them to keep in mind.

"We will be careful." Eli stood up.

If you can read me right now, before I take you to see Halsey tomorrow, I would like to take you somewhere just for a few minutes, that's all I ask of. Nod if you accept my invitation.

And she nodded, he smiled stared briefly at Haley and then he excused himself.

"I'll be fine, just let mom and dad know that am okay."

Sitting quietly on the sofa Rey watched Haley say her goodbyes to her sister, but it wasn't much about the goodbye that she thought of when she walked outside to catch up with her, it was something else, as a royal guard she had taken it upon herself to be anyone's safe haven, she had sworn to protect her home till the end and that was what rulers of any kingdom did.

"Halsey." She called after her.

"What?" Rude like always, she turned and waited for Rey to catch up with her.

"We do have something in common." Rey laughed.

"We don't like each other." She added.

"You are an alien no offence." Halsey said.

"Non taken, you are human so it's a win win."

"Okay what do you want?"

"Protecting the people you love comes first more than anything else for you." Rey said.

"Yeah so?"

"You have too much pride in you." Rey said.

"Is that all?" She asked.

"No. If my people learn that am here, you will all pay with your lives, I want you to continue training your people, prepare for a battle that you don't know if it will come or not!"

"But you could just go back home, tell them we never abducted you." Halsey suggested.

"I could if I had a means to, but I can't I am still trying to fiqure out how I even got here so there is that." She answered her.

"Right." Halsey sighed.

"Why are you so worried anyway?"

"You could lose everyone and everything this planet has, I don't have to care, but there are good people in it, alien people do not believe that."

"Do you?"

"I would, but I can't." She shook her head.

"I will train them harder, I mean my soldiers."

"I sure do hope you will and Halsey do not at any chance attempt to put your trust in me after today even when am under you." She suggested.

"Why exactly?"

"I am as much as the enemy as you are and based on what I can see in you, I know you know what that means."

"Okay, I will see you tomorrow." Halsey said and Rey watched her leave, she stood there until she was out of sight.

"I have to admit, she is a little bit like you." Vee whispered.

"Oh, yeah? How so?"

"You know with what."

"Maybe, maybe not."

"So are you going to go?" Vee asked, Rey didn't have to ask what she meant because she knew that already.

"I don't know." Rey shrugged.

"All you could think about when you two locked eyes was Eyken, even when he held your hands, it was all him and the way he asked you to go with him, it was still him you were thinking about."

"I miss him so much." Rey forced herself to remain calm, she was in day three in human earth that meant she had spent three whole weeks away from home and in the next hours to come it would be a month, she was worried if not he was doing what they would all do, work on forgetting her and whether or not she would lose him after everything was over.

"Eyken would never forget the person he gave his grandmother's ring to." Vee tried to lighten up the moment.

"Maybe he wouldn't but who is to say that circumstances wouldn't lead him to?"

"Trust what you two have for the sake of you and him."

"You are right, I have more important things to worry about, like what Halsey wanted to point out but because she found out I could read her mind she didn't give me a chance to read her."

"What are you thinking about?"

"Whether it's something to do with my powers or what we said about the prophecy I have got to get her to say it."

"Or what you said about also being the enemy." Vee pointed out.

"With what's coming, I will be the enemy I know you know that." She said softly.

"You don't have to be, you are stronger than that."

"Don't lie to me Vee, you also know that is not definite, and I am very unsure if I can entirely allow my heart be at stake because we all know that if I lose, we all lose." She said quietly, took a deep breathe and then she looked up to the sky.

"And all I want to do right now, is find a way to get us back home, I would rather face what's coming when am close to everyone who understands what happens when you gain new powers."
