*THE NEXT DAY* Alex POV
Oh my Goddess that's such a good movie! And that's coming from someone who isn't very fond of remakes. I like the originals, but this was simply amazing. Will Smith was awesome when doing Genie. Robin Williams left some big shoes to fill, and Will Smith rose to the challenge.
'Alex, you can't hide from me.' Aidan shouted through our 'sibling chat.' It was basically just him, Chris, and me. We're playing hide-and-seek, but he'll never find me. Not without cheating. You see, we're not allowed to sniff each other out, cause that's no fun. I was hiding in Austin's office, he wasn't in it at the time.
'You'll NEVER find me!' Seeing as Austin and I had an argument earlier, I was hiding in the last place they'd expect.
'Challenge accepted.' He'd found Chris already, so he had help. I heard them running past the office, asking random people if they'd seen me. Then the footsteps faded. It grew quiet. Too quiet.
Then heavy footsteps could be heard coming down the hallway, stopping in front of the office door. Those cheaters! I wedged myself in between the couch and the wall, staying as quiet as possible. I heard the door open, and Austin's scent hit me like lightning. I tried to hold my breath for the sole reason that I didn't want to give in just yet. I heard him inhale loudly, then sigh. "She was in here.."
He shut the door and sat down, then opened a drawer. I couldn't see what he was doing, so I went by what I heard. He started flipping through papers, but stopped pretty soon. I'd given up on holding my breath, it's inevitable. I forgot how much I missed him. I heard him inhale again before he said, "I really screwed up.. I have to apologize!" I heard him get up and exit the room. I made my mind up then and there.
'Hey boys, I have to talk to someone. I'll rematch you all later.' I informed my brothers.
'Aw come on!' Aidan complained. 'Can't it wait?'
'No, bud, it can't. I'm sorry. Go play tag with Lily and James, I'm sure they want some friends right now.'
'Um, I'm not in Lily's good graces right now..' Chris said hesitantly.
'Then go play with Tess! Chris, we'll talk later.' I then cut the link, ready to find Austin.
I exited the office and searched for him. I ran into Ashlyn on the way. 'Hey Ash! Where's your brother?' "In the kitchen."
I walked down to the kitchen casually. Austin sat there alone, his head in his hands. He was mumbling something, but I couldn't hear it. I walked in, making sure that my shoes made noise on the floor. He didn't look up. Then he sniffed the air. His head shot up.
"Alex! Oh my Goddess, I'm so sorry! I should've paid more attention to you, I know that now. I've learned from my mistakes, I promise. Please, the separation is killing me. Please Alex." I processes his words, making him wait.
'I missed you to. I hope you've learned. Don't let it happen again.' I scolded him, my features softening.
"Yes ma'am." He joked.
'Not the time Austin. Also, what are you hiding from me? I know you are, don't even try to lie. I know that you lock that drawer to keep me out of it. What's in it?' I wanted to know that it wasn't something super important.
"It's the case I've been working on. In the drawer is a book that's helping me with my research," He explained. "I'm working hard to figure out if there's a cure for silver poisoning. I'm trying to find out if you can ever talk again. You can help if you want. I just want you to be happy."
I was quiet for a moment, making him think that I'm mad about the case. "Alex? I can stop the ca-" Then I lost my composer, a large grin spreading across my face. He pouted. "You meanie."
He reached out for me, and I walked forward. We hugged, and sparks flew through my body. When we pulled away, I took a good look at him. His hair was all messed up, like he'd run his fingers through it multiple times. He had dark purple bags under his eyes, indicating that he hadn't slept for a while. 'Let's get you all cleaned up, then we'll take a nap. That sound good?'
"Yeah. Let's go!" Truthfully, I needed the sleep almost as much as he did. I tossed and turned all night.
Since we were already in the Alpha wing, we just walked down the hall and to the bathroom on our floor. 'Take a shower, and take a good one. Take as much time as you need.' I told him. 'Yes mother.' He joked.
He left and a few moments later, I heard the shower start. I might as well do something while he's in there. I do love to draw.. here! I found a sketching pad and some pencils that must've been Ashlyn's.
I decided to draw a rose, kinda like the one from Beauty and the Beast. Soon enough, I got lost in the drawing, making so much detail you'd think I was a professional. I was so sucked into the drawing that I didn't hear the shower turn off and Austin come out. It wasn't until I was done that he spoke. "Looks amazing, Alex."
I jumped and blushed. It isn't that good..
'Thanks. I thought you were tired.' I hinted that I wanted to sleep.
"I am. Now let's go." He grabbed my wrist and dragged me off. I barely had time to set the drawing stuff down!
Austin and I climbed into the huge king-sized bed he had. It was so soft that I fell asleep faster than usual. Well, the softness and the feeling of my mate's arms around me. He was already out like a light, snoring softly. Eventually, I fell asleep too.
******
When I woke up, I instantly rolled over, expecting Austin to be there. Except he wasn't. I sat up and looked around. "And sleeping beauty wakes!" I heard a familiar voice say.
'Oh shut up Max. Where's Austin?'
"Wow Alex, way to make a guy feel welcome." He laughed. "He's in the kitchen."
'A: You deserve it. B: Thank you.' With that I got out of bed and went to brush my hair. It'd gotten really long, which meant it tangled easier.
Max was quiet for a moment before he called out to me. "Hey Alex? It's 3:18 and Austin says to get down there before you're late to your doctor's appointment." My eyes widened.
I completely forgot about it! I practically flew down the stairs, almost tripping, but someone caught me before I could fall.
'Austin's outside, the car is waiting. Next time be careful.' Koda's voice echoed in my ears.
I simply nodded and rushed outside. I saw Austin standing next to a navy blue truck, but I wasn't really paying attention to it. I jumped in, and Austin pulled out of the drive.
When we got to the doctor's appointment, it was 3:20, which was the scheduled time. We ended up overhearing a conversation between the desk lady and someone else. "Doctor, they're not here. Alpha may have been busy.." That's when Austin ran up.
"Never mind. They're here." Then she hung up the phone while bowing her head in respect. "Alpha, Luna. First door on your right." She said, pointing to a long hallway.
We nodded and went to our room. A nurse came in and checked the usual things, height and weight, etc. "Alright, Doctor Johansson will be here in a moment." Then she left.
After a few minutes, the door opened again. "Hello Alpha, Luna. Let's get that checkup, shall we?" She asked. She began doing all the required tests and all that.
*****
When we returned to the pack house, I decided to go see the children. I'd always been fond of the kids in Half Moon. However, I was lost. Very, very lost. I saw a pack member walking past, and went to flag her down. 'Um, could you tell me how to get to the children's place?' I asked her.
"Of course! You must be the new Luna, Alex right?" I nodded. "Nice to meet you! I'm Andie. Right this way Luna."
I smiled at her and followed. We chatted, her out loud and me through the link. By the time we got there, we knew each other pretty well for having met not too long ago.
'Okay, I'm gonna spend some time in there. See you around Andie!'
She chuckled. "See you around Luna."
