chapter 3

                            Jason 

After having breakfast with Kimberly, I leave and head to the packhouse once I'm sure all the tension in the house has died down. I don't know what Emma did to set Kimberly off, but whatever it is I Don't have time for it.

Just because all of this has happened, doesn't me I get to abandon my duties as Alpha, so I can't just sit around and watch them every day. I have to find a way to balance my responsibilities as Alpha while making sure the two of them don't kill each other. Because that will only cause me more problems that I don't need.

I just need for all of this to be over with. Just a few more months of this and Emma's mate can come and take her away. 

I let out a sigh, knowing this is going to be a long few months.

As I sit here in my office at the packhouse, dealing with the paperwork, I call Kimberly every thirty minutes just to make sure everything is okay at the house. 

"You Don't have to keep calling Jason, I can take care of myself." She tells me, assuming I keep calling to check on things because I don't think she can take Emma on if something was to happen. But that's not the case at all. I've trained Kimberly and I know she's capable of defending herself against Emma. But I Don't want her to have to defend herself even if she can.

"I know you can take care of yourself, but that's not something I want you to do, because if you managed to kill Emma, then it would start a war, and a war is something no one wants," I tell her. 

I explained to her that many people on both sides will die if it came to that. Many innocent people, who will only be fighting because of the loyalty they have for their alpha, Luna, and pack. 

I understand that Kimberly has a rightful reason to want to hurt Emma but at the end of it all, Emma is carrying my pup and I don't want anything to happen to her while she does so.

I just hate that I've put Kimberly in this situation. I know she angry and doesn't want Emma in our home, and it's absolutely unfair of me to ask this of her, but as Luna of the pack, she needs to put that pack first and not start a war.

Our pack has never had to go to war and I Don't want that to change because of a mistake that I've made. I don't want the blood of innocent people on my hands.

"I understand." She tells me after explaining things to her.

After taking care of my responsibilities as alpha, I head straight home to make sure things are okay there. 

Walking into the house, I head into the living room where I find Kim laying on the couch watching tv. I walk over and lift her legs up, taking a seat on the couch, letting her legs rest down on my lap.

"What are you watching?" I ask, looking over at the tv. I wasn't a big fan of watching tv, but Kim seems to enjoy it a lot and now I enjoy watching it with her.

"Shameless." She tells me. I never know what it is that she's watching, but she has a good taste in choosing things to watch. Once I start watching with her, I always get caught up in whatever we're watching and we end up spending hours watching episodes after episode.

I start to watch the show as Kimberly explains to me what's going on with all the characters, catching me up to the point she's at now in the show.

As I watch the show, I find myself laughing a little along with Kimberly, now that I know what going on with everyone.  

After watching a couple of episodes, I look over at Kimberly to see that she has fallen asleep. 

Turning the tv off, I stand up and lift Kimberly off the couch, causing her to wake up. "I got you," I tell her. She rests her head down on my shoulder, going back to sleep as I leave the living room. 

As I head up the stairs with Kimberly in my arms, I see Emma making her way down. As I pass Emma, she let out a low growl, glaring at Kimberly asleep in my arms. I warn her, flashing her sharp teeth as I continue to make my way up the stairs with Kimberly, going to our bedroom.

Unable to really sleep with everything on my mind, I sit here in bed watching Kimberly as she sleeps. She may try to not let it show, but I can see the pain that I have caused her. 

I let out a sigh, looking down at Kim, reaching out gently rubbing my fingers through her hair. I Don't want her to feel this way, but I know no  I can do nothing to change this.

The next morning, Lester makes it back with Emma's things that I sent him to get from Emma's mate pack.

I grab a few of her bags out of Lester's car and head inside, taking them up the stairs. "Your things are here," I say walking into Emma's room. 

She glares over at me as she gets off the bed and walks over, rudely pulling one of the bags from my hands. 

 A deep growl vibrant my chest. "Instead of being rude, maybe you should be thanking me for getting your shit." I glare over at her.

"I have nothing to thank you for! The only thing you've done is ruin things for my mate and me!" She walks over pulling the other bag from my hand. 

I frown, hearing her blame me for this. "Maybe if you weren't sleeping around durn the time of your heat, then none of this would've happened." I wasn't the one to come on to her. She came to me. She's the one who asked to come back to my place 'to have some fun' as she says. So if anyone is to blame it's her.

"Well maybe if you didn't fucking cum in every fucking body you sleep with, then I wouldn't be pregnant would I?!" She growls out, glaring over at me. 

"Where do you want me to put these?" Lester asks, walking into the room carrying the rest of Emma's bags. 

Before I say anything, Emma walks over and rudely yank her bags away from Lester's hands, causing him to frown.

I shake my head a little, before leaving the room with Lester, not in the mood to deal with her shit.

I'm not the one to blame for this. She knew it was nearing the time of her heat and still choose to have sex. I couldn't detect her heat, so I didn't know. If I had detected her heat, I wouldn't have come anywhere near her. This is her fault, not mines.

I leave the house with Kimberly, heading to the training ground. I've been thinking about bringing her to the training grounds to train with the others for a while now, but me being very protective of her and not wanting her to be harmed in any way has been stopping me from doing so. 

But I need to let her train with the others. I know that the pack loves and accepts her as their luna, but I'm sure many of them see her as this fragile human and she needs to show them that even if she's not a wolf, she's still perfectly capable of holding her own in a fight.

"You're not sparing with me, so don't expect them to only push you away and trip you to the ground." I look over at her as we walk. She's going to get a few bumps and bruises here, but as she said, she can heal now, so she'll be fine.

"Okay." She says. 

Kimberly has only been training a few months since I started teaching her to protect herself back at the condo, but all of this seems to come naturally to her. From day one, Kimberly had always been eager to learn. Her eagerness helps her pick up on things quickly, So if she sticks to her training, then she'll be fine.

Once we get to the training grounds, the pack warriors greet their Luna with friendly smiles that Kim returns, speaking to them all. We have a big pack and Kimberly has gotten to know them all, becoming good friends with most of the females here. 

After everyone gets to speak to their Luna, they go back to training. 

"Lilly," I call over one of the female warriors. Lilly isn't a top-ranking female warrior, but she's pretty good. Lilly is still learning just as Kimberly is. I want to start Kimberly off lightly, just to get her comfortable with sparing with someone other than me, so Lilly should be a good start for her. 

"Alpha, Luna." Lilly stops in front of Kimberly and I, slightly bowing her head in respect to her Alpha and Luna. 

"I want you to spar with Kimberly," I tell her.

"I will be honored to spar with you, Luna." She gives Kimberly a smile, bowing her head to her. 

"She's your Luna, but I don't want for you to hold back because of that." I want Lilly to fight Kimberly as she would any other female warrior here. I don't want her holding back against Kimberly out of respect of Kim being her Luna, or because she thinks that Kimberly is a fragile human. 

Lilly gives me a nod and I watch as Lilly and Kimberly walk over onto the training ground, sharing a short friendly conversation and laugh, before backing away from each other.

"Ready?" Kimberly smile over at Lilly, taking her fighting stance.

"I think I should be the one asking you that Luna?" Lilly let out a low chuckle, taking her fighting stance. 

Lilly makes the first move, quickly attacking. 

Kimberly dodges the punch but leaves herself open, allowing Lilly to land a hard knee to her stomach, knocking her to the ground. 

I frown, knowing that isn't an attack that Lilly should land so easily on Kimberly. Kimberly is being too friendly, letting her guard down.

By me being an alpha male, my mark has basically made Kimberly into an alpha female. With hard training, she will become much stronger than she is now. She may have the abilities of a werewolf, but Kimberly has no inner wolf that could result to its natural instinct in a fight and utilize the power it holds, so power means nothing for Kimberly if she has no skills to utilize the power she holds. 

"Focus Kimberly," I tell her. 

All the males and females warriors stop what they're doing to watch their Luna as Kimberly stands back to his feet.

"Ready?" Lilly asks smirking.

Kimberly gives her a nod, smirking back at Lilly.

Lilly moves quickly, attacking again.

Kimberly stands her ground, watching Lilly quickly come at her. 

The second Lilly is in reach, Kimberly throws that high roundhouse kick that she seems to love, connecting to the side of Lilly's head, sending her rolling around the ground. 

Lilly slowly sits up, wincing in pain, rubbing the side of her head. "You're stronger than I expected." Lilly looks over at Kimberly as she slowly standing to her feet.

"Don't underestimate me," Kimberly says with a smirk.

"I won't." Lilly takes her stance again.

This time Kimberly makes the first move.

I stand here watching Kimberly use all the things that she has learned. They both land good attacks, but Kimberly is getting the best of Lilly. Kimberly is a bit stronger, and Lilly has felt the power behind Kimberly attacks, so now Lilly is busy trying to avoid Kim attacks, and isn't attacking as much now. 

"Shift Lilly," I tell her. 

I walk over grabbing one of the blades, tossing it over to Kimberly.

Lilly shifts into her light brown wolf, snapping and growling at Kimberly. 

I've prepared Kimberly to take on the wolf. My wolf is much larger and faster than Lilly's, so this shouldn't be difficult for Kimberly.

Kimberly picks the blade up from the ground, taking her stance.

Lilly makes the first move, attacking. 

Kimberly dodges Lilly's attack, but Lilly still manages to drag her sharp claws across Kimberly's side. 

I frown seeing Kimberly blood starting to soak the side of her shirt, but she pays it no mind. 

She waits for Lilly to attack again, Dodging Lilly's attack this time. Kim continues to quickly move, forcing Lilly to attack her at awkward angles, using the small advantage she has. 

In wolf form, Lilly can only turn and flex her large body so much on all fours, so forcing her to attack at awkward angles will throw Lilly off balance.

Once Kimberly sees her opening, she quickly moves, slicing through the tendon in Lilly's right shoulder, causing Lilly to crash to the ground. Before Lilly has a chance to get up, Kimberly moves to her, placing the blade to Lilly's neck, forcing Lilly to go still on the ground, submitting.  

The warriors watching starts to clap for Kimberly. I smile, looking at Kimberly, knowing word about this will spread throughout the pack, and everyone will know that their Luna can hold her own in a fight against any wolf.
