THIRD POV

        People were having fun at the party. The newlywed couple had their first dance. It was so sweet the people were in awe. Miles, as the Best man, had given his message to the groom and the Bride. He spoke about the escapades he and David did. He told everyone how David was as a single and Bachelor. Miles also revealed what David did when Lindsay broke up with him for the first time. He even showed the video of how David got intoxicated and cried like a baby over Lindsay. It was a good laugh for all the people who were there.

        The Maid-of-Honor, which was Lindsay’s Youngest sister, gave a heartwarming message. Of course, Lindsay didn’t get away with how she looked like when she and David got their very first big argument. Lindsay’s sister played a video of her pampering in a spa looking pretty and relaxed, then she’d shown the photos of Lindsay’s aftermath of crying and sulking in bed. Apparently, that also happened at the same time when David was brooding over their breakup. Everyone chortled about these revelations.

        Kathy, on the other hand, was enjoying her conversation with Belinda and Jack after some time, the two decided to dance. They excused themselves, and she was left alone at the table. Miles was nowhere to be found. He must be hanging out with his relatives and friends, or maybe with Nadia. After all, she was pregnant, and he needed to be with her. Wherever she was at.

        They must be patching things up. Miles's reaction last night must have hurt Nadia, it must be a shock for him; nevertheless, the baby was always a blessing. Belinda and Jack would be delighted to know this, Kathy thought. She wasn’t just sure once they learned who the baby mama was. Kathy couldn’t help but sulk in the corner. She decided to drink off her defeat over Miles's heart. Maybe it was time for her to let go of her love for him.

        She was on her fourth glass of wine when suddenly Mason approached and sat to the empty chair next to her.

        “Hey!” Mason said, “Can I talk to you?” She glowered at him

        “You're talking to me” Kathy spat

        “Please dance with me,” he asked politely,

        “One last time, please, let's talk,” Kathy nodded.

        She was tired of arguing with him. After all, they never had a proper closure in their relationship, she avoided him like the plague. It was so hard for her to do it since they studied at the same University and took the same classes. She focused herself on her studies and another extra-curricular program her schooled offered just to forget him and what he did. It was hard, but she was able to overcome it.

        Mason offered his hand, and Kathy took it but not without rolling her eyes at him first. They walked to the dance floor as the Music Dj played sweet songs. Mason grabbed her waist, and she laid her hands on his shoulders just like old times. They swayed their body in slow motion. Her eyes focused on his neck.

        “So, how are you, Kate?” Mason broke the silence

        “Its Kathy.” Mason chuckled “You never changed” he added

        She sighed deeply; she didn’t know where this conversation would go.

        “So how are you, Mr. Sheldon,” she said

        “I’m sorry,” he whispered, “for breaking your heart.”

        She lifted her head and met his deep brown eyes she used to adore. She could see the sincerity in it.

        Kathy smiled “I’d forgiven you a long time ago,” she said, “It's just that I couldn’t forget it.”

        It was true, will your mind forget the scene you’ve witnessed on your very own bed? With your very own best friend? And your very own boyfriend?. Kathy thought. But that was over, she had to move forward in able to give her heart a chance to heal.

        “I had moved on, and I’m sorry for treating you bad today, please don’t tell Lindsay.” she apologized.

        Mason giggled, “I won't, she’ll probably kill me once she learned that it was you whom I had broken the heart because of my selfishness and stupidity.”

        “Oh, glad to know you admitted it” Kathy bantered

        “Admitted what?”

        “Your selfishness and stupidity” she answered

        He chuckled, “You are still the same, my smart-mouthed and witty Kate.”

        They both laughed at his remarks.

        Kathy seemed to enjoy his company. After all, it was already in the past. She was once burned and wouldn’t let it happened again. Mason had taught her about trust, and she didn’t want to make the same mistake again.

        They both continued their dance, reminiscing the old good time's sake. As the music almost ending, Mason lifted both his hands and placed on Kathy’s face, his right thumb brushing her face, and slowly kissed her on the forehead and hugged her. Kathy didn’t respond, she just closed her eyes and hugged him back.

        Deep in her heart, she had forgiven him and knew that he won't do anything to upset her. She opened her eyes and broke the hug. She lifted her hand on his face and smiled.

        “Friends?” She offered, looking at him

        Mason grinned widely and nodded, “Of course, friends.”
