They were talking for a while before the door opened revealing the last guest, Ryan.
"Sorry, I'm late."
"It's no problem dear, take a seat so we can start dinner," Nicole said.
Ryan's eyes scanned over the table his eyes met Natalia's she immediately looked away from him.
He walked over to her taking the seat to her left.
"Hello, Natalia." She looked at him, well glared at him.
"Hello, Ryan." She turned back around.
The maids came in, placing the food on the table.
Natalia lost her appetite for the food and she was surrounded by the two people she hated most in the world.
"You aren't going to eat?" Natalia looked over at Alessandro before saying.
"I lost my appetite." She took up her glass of wine taking a sip.
"Why am I not surprised that you would restore to alcohol."
"It calms my nerves."
"What or should I say who has gotten on your nerves? I have a few guesses of my own."
"Can't I drink without a reason?"
"No, you can't."
"You barely know me." He chuckles.
"I may not know you, but I'm very observant, I notice far more things about you than you realize."
"Please enlighten me about your recent discoveries." She said generally curious.
"You don't like to talk to people, but you hate to be alone, from my observations someone broke your trust and they also broke you." She looked up from her glass to look at him.
"By the way, you're looking at me I'm right."
"How can you be so sure."
"The reason you drink is to forget, but it never works does it?" She didn't answer him she only stared.
"You hate to be vulnerable, so you put up a tough act because you're scared to be hurt again. How are my discoveries?" She cleared her throat.
"I-" He cuts her off.
"You don't have to answer." She quietly was thanking him in her mind.
"So are you going to agree to the alliance?" Natalia asked, changing the subject.
"Time will tell." He said.
"You going to drink that?" Natalia asked as she saw his full glass of red wine.
"No, you can have it." She sent him a smile before taking up the wine, drinking it in a matter of seconds.
She placed back the cup on the table.
Out of nowhere, they heard someone coughing, immediately they looked behind us and saw a maid holding his throat as blood fell out of his mouth.
His nose was bleeding, his skin was pale and his eyes were wide with fear.
They watched as he fell on the ground. Natalia sighed before getting up, walking over to him.
She checked his pulse to make sure he was dead. "He's dead."
"He was poison from the looks of it." She added.
Alessandro bent down and picked up a note that was in the maid's pocket.
Dear Natalia,
That was just a warning, next time it may just be your body on the floor.

"I got a note like that in my room, along with red wine." She had a hunch Ryan did this, but she didn't want to confront him yet.
"Are you alright? Do you feel off?" Alessandro quickly asked.
"I'm fine." She told him, giving him a soft smile.
"I think we all agree that we should cut the dinner short." Rounds of nods came as Nicole announced this.
"Ryan and Danielle you can stay for the night, I don't trust it's safe to go out," Nicole said.
"I'll get a room ready for you both."
"Мама, I'll be retiring to bed." She nodded.
"I'll follow you." Alessandro insisted.
They walked out of the dining room, in silence before Alessandro spoke up.
"Are you sure you're fine?" He asked once again.
"Why do you care?" She inquired, she stopped walking and turned to him.
"I'm just being polite."
"To a stranger."
"You're not a stranger if we already know each other's name." She rolled her eyes.
"Don't try to get smart with me." He smirked, they continued walking.
"You don't realize that the things you don't like about yourself are what makes you so interesting," Alessandro said as they stopped by her room door.
"Good night Natalia."
"Good night Alessandro."
She watched as he walked away, she walked into her room and leaned against the door, sighing she touched her heart as she felt it beating harder than before.
