chapter 6

By the time I reach my old house on the edge of the border I am full on sobbing and can’t catch my breath. I mind linked my mom on my way here the best I could in between sobs. She told me she would be waiting for me with a blanket. When I get to the pathway and shift she drapes the blanket over me and rubs my arms. She starts shushing me and kissing my head, calming me down enough to finally stop crying. We walk quietly into the living room which is across the hall from my dad’s office. He starts to get up from his chair but my mom quickly tells him this was a girl thing and to leave us alone. He hesitates but when mom gives him her signature look he nods his head in understanding and shuts his office doors, leaving us alone.

“Sweetie why don’t you go up and get changed while I make us some coffee. We’ll go out back and you can tell me what happened. I already called the school and told them you’ll be out sick the rest of the day and all day tomorrow. I also told Amara that you’re not going to be training tomorrow morning and to let Alpha Lawrence know. I’m taking you to town with me for the day, she said she will join us if we want her too!”

Of course she told the Luna and she wants to come with us. Why not make my life even more complicated than it already is.

“Thanks mom, I’ll be down in a minute. Please put caramel creamer in mine” I love fall coffee and caramel just makes it so much better.

When I make it outside mom is already sitting on our porch swing with a blanket and our coffee’s. She pats the seat next to her signaling for me to come sit. I gradually make my way over to her, knowing that I have to not only tell her what just happened in the woods but all about Colin and Luke. Goddess help me get through this.

"--And then he just acted like I was a fucking prize mom!” I blurt the last part out to mom not caring about cussing.

“Elenor Charlotte Miner! For one do not ever use that language with me. You are a lady and you better start acting like it.” She hates when I cuss, especially around her.

“Mom, I’m sorry but seriously! Can’t you give me a break after everything I’ve just told you?!” I give her a side eye and pout my lip.

“Ok fine Sweetie, but that was your only one I’m going to excuse.” Winking at me and sipping her coffee, I knew some serious mom talk was about to come out. I just need to prepare myself for it.

“Everyone knows how Lucas feels about you, he doesn’t hide it very well at all. I don’t know why you toy with that poor boys emotions, but you better be careful before you lose him completely." She takes another sip of her coffee, preparing to continue. "Also, while I don’t condone my 17 year old daughter loosing her virginity in the woods behind the school, I am glad that it was with your mate.” I sigh at her. I know she's right about Luke, he really doesn't deserve it and I don't want to lose him.

“Honey, The mate bond is strong and hard to fight yes, but relationships that the human side of us form are also strong. Colin and Victoria have been together faithfully for four years now. There is no doubt love there and that is not easy to just throw away. His mind and heart are probably torn entirely in two and he’s sure to be in agony over the thought of losing one of you." She turns so she is facing me directly now. "Imagine if Colin told you that you had to pick him or Luke. I know you and Luke are more friends than lovers, but I’m sure you could not have a harder time picking one over the other, right?”

Her words are so true and I haven’t thought about it like that. Colin and Victoria have been faithful for four years. Up until I knew he was my mate I could have put money on them being the future Alpha and Luna of our pack. They are completely in love and everyone knows it. Well, they have been faithful. He just had sex with me while still with her. Now I suddenly feel even more sick to my stomach.

“Not to throw another thing at you, but did it cross your mind at all that he was excited that you waited because that would mean that you are truly his, heart, soul and body and that thought made him and his wolf beam with pride. I have known Amara and Lawrence for a long time now and I watched Colin grow up. He does not seem like the kind of boy that sleeps with girls to claim them as trophies. Does he act that way at school?”

No, he doesn’t act that way. In fact he’s always been Victoria’s knight in shining armor. Before her I can’t recall him being with any other girls. Come to think of it, everyone knows that they are together and are in love, but I don’t know if they have ever had sex before. I suddenly have a headache and just want to crawl into a hole.

“Ok you don’t have to respond, but please think about everything I said to you. If you would rather Amara not come with us tomorrow I will understand and I can tell her we are just have a mother/daughter day." She places her hand on my knee, bringing my attention to her eyes. "Ellie listen to me. I'm not telling you to just forgive Colin. What he did of course was not ok, but I really want you to allow him the chance to redeem himself. You are mates and the Moon Goddess destined you to be together for a reason." She kisses my head and smiles at me.

“Thanks mom, I love you." We place our heads together and look in silence over the hill at the woods. Swinging together and drinking our coffee. This is our happy place.

"I love you too sweetie, it will all be ok in the end, I promise."

****Later that day****

“What do you mean she’s not going to training or school tomorrow, where will she be then?” Colin sounds pissed and worried. He has obviously forgotten the fact that his dad is currently on the phone with other people.
