chapter 8

It’s been a week since my little rendezvous in the woods and my um, bedroom. I have successfully managed to avoid both Colin and Luke this entire time, which was not easy. My mom and the Luna convinced Alpha Lawrence to tell the principal of our school I would be missing an entire week. He said I needed to help my dad with the Monday trainings for the girls. It wasn’t hard to accomplish because with mom and Amara being best friends and no one second guessing the Alpha, the principal gladly agreed. We just had all of my work sent to my parents house so I wouldn’t get behind. My dad still doesn’t know what’s going on so he has been working on the Monday trainings with me, so technically we weren’t lying to the Alpha. To be honest, the girls are not great fighters. They just don’t care enough, so this is necessary.

Luke and the girls sent me a million text messages asking if I was ok. I hated lying to them but I just needed time to figure things out. I know that Luke will be crushed when he finds out, but being who he is at heart he will forgive me and we’ll move on. I just really hope he finds his mate soon. That will make everything easier, even though I don’t know if I could handle him with someone either.

From what the girls have said through our group text, Colin has been extremely hormonal since Tuesday at training. Apparently he sent Tim to the pack hospital during their fight and growled at anyone who came near him to calm him down. At school he’s been distant from Victoria, which made me happy to hear, yet a little regretful. There is a rumor that they broke up. I’ve been out of the loop so I don’t know what is true, or what I want anymore. I really wanted to go to the bonfire, but still couldn’t face anyone so I watched Titanic with my mom and cried.

Dreading the day ahead I take a shower and get myself ready for training. Typically I wear gym shorts or joggers with a hoodie or long sleeve T. I decide to dress a little differently today. I have felt different since the woods. Leia has noticed the change as well but says it’s just the confidence and feeling like a woman since I’m no longer a virgin. We’ll see.

I go into my drawers and look at my new wardrobe that I’ve acquired over the last week from my shopping trips with mom and Luna Amara. We really went overboard and had too much fun. Mom was too enthusiastic about the fact that her “little boy is growing into a woman.” Honestly that woman is so ridiculous.

I lay out multiple options I end up with burgundy Ombre leggings that hug my legs and ass so nicely, and a crop top sports bra in the same color with a little extra padding in it. To top the look off I loosely braid my hair to the side over my right shoulder instead of my pony and throw on my tennis shoes, some waterproof mascara and a little lip gloss. I am well aware of the fact that this is the boys training day and I am the only female there.

Walking out of the pack house and over to the football field I am a ball of emotions. I have never worn anything like this so I keep trying to pull at the little clothing I am wearing.

“You are on fire and you know it. Show off your body, make the boys drool and Colin fight for you!”

“Ok, you are right Leia. I got this” I can sense her nodding in approval and agreement.

The second I get onto the field I regret my decision. Everyone is stretching and hanging out since it is early and my dad is the first to notice me.

“Elenor Miner, how am I going to get any of these teenage boys to do anything today with you looking like that” What the fuck dad!! My cheeks are probably 50 shades of Red at this point and I may puke. I hear a few wolf whistles from the guys and then a couple of growls. Luke and Colin probably, but I'm not going to look to check.

“Well maybe the distraction will be good for them, from what I hear they are getting lazy!” I stroll over to my dad, get on my tip toes to kiss his cheek and then bend over to stretch. When I look back up Luke is coming over to me.

“I miss you Ellie, I’m glad you’re back. I feel like you’ve been avoiding me. What is with your new look? I’m not complaining, but damn girl!” He winks at the last part and gets a swift kick to the shin as I am stretching my arms. I’m glad that we are so comfortable around each other. Even after what happened.

“I miss you too Luke and I don’t know, I was ready for a change and to grow up a little.” Ever since I walked onto the field I could sense Colin watching me. He hasn’t come over to me or said anything, but I can tell he really wants to. I don’t know if I want him to though.

“Ok everyone, run a lap and then these are your first opponents. Logan and Tim. Luke and Carter. Blake and Hunter.” I stop paying attention to the names called since we have so many guys that train. I will just wait to hear my name being called.

“Finally Colin and Elenor since Ellie was late for the fight two weeks ago and missed last week” What the hell! Colin seems to perk up from excitement or is it shock? I can’t tell because I am trying to figure out my own reaction that probably looks almost identical.

We get into stance and before my dad says go Colin inhales deeply and closes his eyes as if he needs to calm down Devon.
