Chapter 1

In the duty room of the hospital, Irene Spencer was putting on her doctor uniform.

Today was her wedding day, but the man she was supposed to marry, never actually showed up.

Several hours ago, just when she didn’t know how to pass the night, she received a text from her colleague.

Her colleague was asking her if she could cover her shift for her. Irene didn’t hesitate to head to the hospital in a taxi.

Her wedding dress was changed into a doctor's overalls. Both were white, but they represented two completely different identities.

While she was lost in thought, the door to the duty room was barged open with a loud bang.

Irene was just about to raise her head when the lights of the room were switched off.

This sent a chill down Irene's back.

"Who’s there..."

Before Irene could finish speaking, she was pinned to the table. This caused the items on the table to roll to the floor. A sharp knife was placed on her neck and a threatening voice sounded. "I'd keep quiet if I were you."

Under the dim light, Irene saw a man's face covered in blood and his eyes were sharp.

The smell of blood that was filling her nose told Irene that the man in front of her was badly wounded..

The reason that Irene was able to remain calm under such situations was probably because of her job.

She gently arched her foot in an attempt to kick the man where it would hurt the most, but he noticed what she was trying to do the instant she moved. He then used his thighs to catch Irene’s foot.

"I saw him heading in this direction!"

At the same time, there was a clamor of footsteps outside the room, and the people outside seemed like they were going to open the door.

Desperate times would call for desperate measures. The man leaned in and kissed Irene on the lips..

Irene tried to push the man away subconsciously and she was able to do so with ease. The man didn't use the weapon in his hand to harm her. This caused Irene to be a little surprised.

At that moment, the doorknob began to turn.

That was when Irene made up her mind. She took the initiative to wrap her arms around the man's neck to lift her head up and kiss his lips.

Irene pretended to be calm, but her trembling voice gave her away. "I can help you."

The man swallowed and the next second, he became the dominant one in the kiss. His warm breath reached her ear and his voice was deep and attractive. "I will definitely be responsible."

'Wait, what I meant was that I will put up an act with him. I think he just misunderstood me,' thought Irene.

As the door was opened, she imitated the moans she had seen on TV, her aroused and coquettish moaning caused the man to be intoxicated, and the people at the door were left unnerved as well.

"What the fuck? Public sex in the hospital? So fucking awesome!"

The door was opened a little, and the lights from the corridor shone in, illuminating Irene and the man on top of her. It was still too dark for them to see everything, aside from the two bodies that were entwined.

"That can't be Isaac. He’s heavily wounded and there’s no way he would be able to have sex in such a state."

"I like the way this chick moans."

"Come on, let’s get moving. We need to find Isaac or we’re all dead."

After saying those words, the men left and their footsteps became distant.

The man on top of Irene knew that they were gone, but he suddenly realized that he was losing his control over himself. The woman before him was stimulating his desires like never before!

It was probably because of the ambiguous atmosphere and the position that the two of them were in. Irene was overwhelmed by her dissatisfaction of her life.

Her life had been under the control of others ever since she was born and that included her marriage as well. There was nothing she could do about it.

The reason that she had to be married into the Jefferson family was because of her father's greed as well.

Her grandfather used to be Mr. Jefferson's chauffeur, who sacrificed himself to save Mr. Jefferson in an accident.

Their family’s company was on the verge of bankruptcy and was in desperate need of money to save the company. Irene’s father intended on using the fact that the Jefferson family owed them to allow Irene to be married into the Jefferson family.

Doing so would allow them to receive a large amount of bride price from the Jefferson family. Not only that, the two families would also become one.

The Jefferson family owed them, so they couldn’t really refuse the marriage.

Isaac Jefferson, the husband in this marriage wasn’t very happy either. Therefore, he didn’t even appear on the wedding that only involved the family members of both families. He also said that Irene was not allowed to reveal her identity of being his wife.

No one asked or cared about what Irene thought.

Within her bright eyes, there was a trace of stubbornness.

She was determined to get revenge in her own way.

With that thought in mind, Irene gave up resisting as she gave herself in to the man in front of her.

After they were finished, the man gently kissed her on the cheek. His voice was filled with satisfaction as well. "I’ll definitely come find you."

With that said, the man left in a hurry.

On the other hand, Irene was left lying on the desk and she was feeling a burning pain between her legs.

The phone, which was just lying on the edge of the desk due to all the action, started ringing.

She reached out to grab it and immediately heard an anxious voice. "Dr. Cox, there's been a traffic accident, and there’s a patient in the emergency ward in critical condition. Please come over immediately."

After getting herself together, Irene answered calmly, "Okay, I'll be right there."

After putting down the phone, Irene was in a daze for a few seconds.

Her disheveled clothes and discomfort between her legs told her that everything that had happened just now wasn't a dream. It was all real. She just had sex with a man she didn't know on her wedding night...

It was the most treacherous thing she had ever done in her entire life!

Still, it wasn’t the time to think about such a thing right now, so she quickly put on her clothes and headed to the emergency ward.

After working the entire night, Irene returned to the duty room to find that it was still a mess in here. She clenched her fists when she remembered what had happened last night.

At that moment, Whitney Cox entered with a smile. "Thanks for covering my shift, Dr. Spencer."

Irene forced herself to return a smile. "You're welcome."

"Anyway, I’m back now. You should head home and get some rest," Whitney continued, but she soon noticed the mess in the duty room and cocked her brows. "What happened here?"

Irene turned away to hide the panic in her eyes. "I accidentally knocked some things over. Well, I'll get going since you're here now."

Whitney felt that Irene was acting a little weird, but she took no notice and entered to clean up the mess.

That was when the director of the hospital appeared at the door with Stan Hill, Isaac Jefferson's assistant, beside him.
