Chapter 5

Cindy was momentarily stunned, taking a long time to respond to Elle's words.

She couldn't tell Elle about her current relationship with Trevon, or rather, their relationship over the past five years. Cindy and Trevon were not even familiar strangers, let alone she could ask Trevon for help.

The board meeting started promptly at 9 a.m.

After several hours of tug-of-war, Cindy finally finished the meeting when it was already lunchtime.

Elle had an admiring look towards Cindy, eagerly handing Cindy the documents.

Smiling warmly, Elle said, "You've handled such a major project, not only silencing those old folks but also creating such great benefits for the company. Mr. Gilson will definitely be pleased. Go find him quickly, and maybe you can have lunch together."

Cindy gave a forced smile, not feeling as relaxed as she appeared. She had managed to get the approval of the board meeting, but the survival of the Austen Group under the control of the Gilson Group was still difficult. Situations like today would not be few and far in the future.

Looking up at the closed door of Trevon's office, Cindy unconsciously let out a sigh and walked towards it.

Just as she was about to knock on the door, Annie emerged from inside, her face flushed.

Seeing Cindy, she seemed embarrassed and shyly asked, "Why are you here?"

Was there something between her and Trevon in the office?

The vexation in Cindy's heart rose again, but her expression remained calm and indifferent as she said, "Do I need to report to you? Move aside!"

However, Annie stood still, leaning against the door frame, her previous gentleness and tenderness nowhere to be seen.

"Ms. Austen, I always thought you were a smart person with self-esteem, but I'm quite disappointed in you," she sneered, her tone disdainful.

"Trevon only loves me. It has never changed in these five years. Lately, he saw me getting bored at home, so he casually arranged a position for me in the company to kill time. I never expected it would be a position on par with yours. You tell me, doesn't this show that even if I haven't become Mrs. Gilson, in his heart, I have already been his wife?"
