chapter 53

I don't go looking for trouble,trouble usually finds me-Meredith

Meredith's POV

Ken left for work about an hour ago though I wasn't able to make breakfast for him because of a gas leakage. The repair man was on his way already.

He did promise to take me out again on the weekend. He is extremely nice and I do not know how he is going to react if he finds out what I am really up to.

I had nothing to do so I decided on watching a movie. It was a really difficult decision seeing as I haven't had the time to watch a movie in a while.

I last watched a movie when I was nine in my twenty-four years of life. It is as sad as it sounds.

Picking up a blanket from my room and gathering some popcorn and ice cream,I picked a movie.

Then came you

Half way through the movie and I was tearing up badly. It was quite funny considering what I do for a living.

A knock on the front door interrupted my heartbreaking movie session. I chunk my blanket to the side but in an attempt to answer the door, I twisted my ankle.

Annoyed already, I asked through gritted teeth "who is it?"

The response I got was even louder banging like I had not heard the first one.

Maybe it was the repair man but why wasn't he responding?

Limping with hands on the knee of my broken leg for support, I got to the door and inquired again.

"Who is it?"

Still not getting an answer,I flung the door open expecting a fat and bald headed middle aged man in uniform with a repair man's tools, my heart sank.

Having a cap on, I couldn't quite see he's face but one thing was for sure he wasn't fat.

"I'm here for the gas leak miss, may I come in?" he requested still facing down.

My feelings weren't sitting right with the guy so I attempted to slam the door in his face but he was quicker than me.

Like he read my mind he pushed the door wide open letting himself in.

Making a run for it I ran up the stairs. Being in another man's house sucked as my tools were gone.

A glance behind me and he wasn't moving. Still facing head down he stood by the door not saying a word.

A tight grip on the railings I slowly walked back down. My heart ran a mile pounding hard against my ribcage. A normal person would have ran for the hills by now but then again I'm not normal.

"Who the heck are you?" I spoke up with such bravery I almost fooled myself but my heavily shaking and freaked out body gave me away.

Taking a few steps away from me his footsteps echoed eerily behind him.

Wind whooshing through the opened windows tossed his cap giving me a good view of his face.

"Are you crazy?"

"What are you doing here?"

I wanted to hurl these questions and more at him but I kept shut waiting for him to speak first.

"Why haven't you been returning my calls"

"What are doing here Meredith," he finally aimed at me with face scowling and teeth bared. He basically looked like a wounded animal.

A mad and scary wounded animal

With three large strides he was in front of me grabbing my arm and he demanding an answer from me,

"Tell me," he screamed in my face.

"Exactly what you asked of me," I said with the same resonance trying to avoid his first question.

"And will you let go of me," forcing my way out of his grip with little success.

Eyes widened in shock "I asked you to do this?" he stated in disbelief eyes up in my face.

"I didn't ask you to move in with him," he tried to reason with me finally letting me go

"But I am going to get the job done," I said with a straight face hands rubbing my bruised arm.

"How is this going to work," he asked still not getting it. He really was dumber than his brother

"We will have to see now wouldn't we," I said with my poker face on my fear long forgotten.

"And what were you doing at the diner you gave me quite a scare"

"I had to check up on you to exactly what you were doing"

"And it seems you have bailed on me," he continued ranting

"I thought Ken was going to notice you there you imbecile!" I lashed out at the top of my voice hand flaring in the air

"Do you want him to see you?" I asked widened eyes

"Of course not I just had to make sure you were doing as told"

"Of course I am," I replied

"By the way what are you even wearing?" I asked more confused than disgusted with furrowed brows.

"Are you blind I got it from the man outside," he took out a cigarette.

"You attacked the repair man?" One brow rose

I already knew the answer but I had to confirm.

"What do you think," he said already making his way out the door.

"What if he decides to report you to the cops"

"Then what will you do?" I didn't care but my curiosity was getting the better of me

Pausing "He wouldn't dream of it I already have it handled," was his smart reply so I let it go.

With myself a few steps behind him he turned out around with an evil smirk on his face.

Lighting up the cigarette "don't even think of messing this up"

With an even rigid stance and a finger pointing at me "I'll kill you myself if you do", he threatened.

Not liking his tone I asked pushing his crooked finger"Are you threatening me?"

"Know your place,you are in no position to talk to me that way," I announced,face twisted in fury

"I may be doing a job for you but I ain't your puppet," I was all up in his face

Trying to play it cool he said, "I'm just messing with you"

"You can take it however you like"

"Just don't mess it up"

I folded my arms over my chest

"I won't," I answered back

When he left, I tried returning to my movie but I couldn't. The events of a while back played out in my head.

With a headache forming, I took a nap to clear my head for a few hours and maybe after I'd be able to come up with a plan.
