“Verian Mont, 21 years old, a graduate from North City University, never been in a relationship, healthy…”

The man sitting across her closed the file after reading the document. His eyebrows twitched, and he asked, “Are you sure you want to be a surrogate?”

Verian Mont clutched the hem of her dress with looks of worry and anxiety. Then, she said, “I’m very sure. I need this money.”

“How much do you need?”

Startled, she muttered softly and said, “10…10 million.”

His frown deepened. “This must be kept a secret. Thus, you are not allowed to leave this place throughout the 10 months of pregnancy until birth. Also, you are prohibited from contacting anyone. Are you able to do it?”

Verian Mont’s knuckles turned white from clenching her fists too hard. She took a deep breath. Trembling, she said, “I…, I will promise you, but on one condition.”

“Say it.”

“After signing this agreement, I want 10 million to be deposited into this account as soon as I get pregnant. I need it urgently.”

‘Hah, I really met a girl who only wanted money’.

A hint of disdain flashed across his eyes. “Alright, no problem. Please get ready. The benefactor will arrive at 8 p.m. tonight. He is very demanding, so it will be best if you could get pregnant in one month. Otherwise, forget about the 10 million.”

It was about 8 p.m. when Verian Mont was guided into a pitch-dark room in a villa.

The room was so quiet that one could hear the clock ticking.

Moments later, the door suddenly opened. A man walked in through the darkness. It was so dark that she could not see the man’s figure. She was about to hug herself tightly but was hurled onto the bed by a huge hand instead.

“10 million. You’re surely a bold one.”

His cold sneer echoed through the silence and pierced her heart like a dagger.

She squeezed her eyes shut tightly. With trembling lips, she said, “Stop the bullshi*t!”

The man let out a cold hum in disdain…

‘Mont Enterprise will be saved as long as I get through tonight. Then, father won’t be sent to jail because he can’t afford to pay the debts.’

The bright rays of the sun shone through the curtains into her eyes, which woke her up. The man from yesterday had already left. The maid in the villa came in and said sternly, “Master will come every night until you get pregnant. If you are not pregnant after one month, you may pack up and leave.”

Verian Mont clenched her fist tightly. She will conceive a child, she will.

A month later, her pregnancy test came back positive.

“Master already ordered someone to deposit 10 million into your account. You may now rest and focus on caring for the unborn baby!”

Verian Mont was unsure whether to laugh or cry. Agitated, she grabbed the maid’s hand. “I want to call my father and ask if everything is alright. I want to ask if he received the 10 million. Please, I beg you. Can you help me out? I swear I won’t say anything! I swear… I beg you…”

The middle-aged maid pitied her. She frowned slightly, but her heart wavered, and she said, “What do you want to tell him? I can send a message for you, but only once!”

10 months later, Verian Mont was lying on the bed in the villa, sweating profusely.

Ear-splitting screams echoed throughout the house. The female doctor stood calm and composed as she induced the labor. “Harder, push a little harder. The baby’s head is coming out!”

Verian Mont gritted her teeth, and with one final push, she gave birth to the baby.

Loud cries filled the room.

The female doctor quickly placed the baby in the incubator. “Take the baby away immediately.”

As Verian Mont lay on the bed soaked in blood with tears and sweat streaking down her petite face, she weakly said, “Please let me look at the baby…”

However, her request was ignored. The baby in the incubator was instantly taken away.

She did not even know whether the baby was a boy or a girl.

A luxurious, limited-edition, black Maybach was parked outside the villa.

The man in the car frowned slightly as he saw the baby in the incubator who was still covered in blood.

“President Fudd, the baby looks very much like you.”

The man’s voice was cold and deep. “Why do you think we look alike? Go to the hospital now.”

“Yes.”

Verian Mont stumbled off the obstetric table as she stood up. Looking out of the window, she was only left with the view of a black car’s shadow.

Verian Mont was sent back to her family the day after she gave birth without even getting a chance to recover.

Verian Mont stood outside the door. In her head, she tried to come up with reasons to explain her 10-month disappearance. Then, she took a deep breath. As she was about to press the doorbell, she realized the door was unlocked.

She nudged open the door and realized that there was no one in the living room.

‘That’s weird. No one is home? Aunt Sheen and Wanelle should be home even if dad went out to work.’

As she was about to head upstairs, two familiar silhouettes flashed across the corridor.

The woman lightly thumped her fist on the man’s chest. She grumbled coyly, “I hate you. When are you going to marry me! Don’t tell me you’re still thinking of Verian Mont? She disappeared without a word for 10 months…”

“How is it possible that I’m still thinking about her? I only hooked up with her because she was the daughter of the Mont family. She’s no fun at all compared to you.” The man lowered his head and whispered ambiguously into the woman’s ear.

Standing downstairs, Verian Mont turned pale. She was staring daggers at the man and woman upstairs.

The man who was talking to her stepmother’s daughter was none other than her boyfriend, Jensen.

She was only gone for 10 months, and her boyfriend was hooking up with her sister, Wanelle!

Serene realized she was on a hospital bed when she woke up. She raised her hand and saw it was inserted with an IV. "Dr. Hayes, what happened?" "Well, do you know that you have low blood pressure? You forget everything when you're working. You could have been in big trouble if we didn't treat it in time. You're lucky you fainted in the hospital. What if it happened in the middle of nowhere? Who would get you to the hospital then?" Serene felt a little embarrassed after Dr. Hayes lectured her. She apologized, "I'm sorry for troubling you, Dr. Hayes." "Get some rest. Don't rush back to your department after the drip is done. Be good, and rest well." "Dr. Hayes, I'm fine… I will eat some chocolate." Dr. Hayes gave her a piercing look just after she finished her sentence. "Silly girl! You are okay, but the baby in your belly needs rest." Serene was stunned; she thought she had misheard it. "Dr. Hayes, what did you say?" What? A baby? Dr. Hayes looked at her in shock. "You

The next morning, Serene grabbed two steamed buns and headed straight to the hospital. She did not even accompany Wilson at breakfast. Wilson felt that the woman was a little upset after he told her that he did not want kids for the time being. After a busy morning at work, Serene had lunch in the canteen with her colleagues. She had lunch with a head nurse and a female doctor from their department. The doctor asked, "Nurse, why is Lydia absent today?" Lydia was a young nurse from their department. The chubby head nurse said, "Didn't you guys know that Lydia is pregnant? She's about three months pregnant, and she's doing her antenatal check-up in our hospital." Serene was slightly stunned. "I thought Lydia is not married yet?" "That's the problem. She got pregnant out of wedlock, and that's what made it more cumbersome. Her boyfriend has a weird family. He grew up in a poor family, and he's not local. He came from a place where the couple can only get married if she giv

They were done with their game and business talks. Jinn had a run of bad luck with the cards that night; he had burned through most of his cash. He and Xander were still single, and they could not stand it when Heaton and Wilson flaunted their love. So, the two of them decided to leave earlier. Little Jelly Bean saw a rainbow cake from another table as they exited the Supreme Restaurant. Since his daughter wanted to have some dessert, he suggested they go for an afternoon tea before they headed home. Heaton ordered a whole table of desserts that the girls loved. It was all on Jinn, anyway. Verian said teasingly, "Jinn really picked the wrong friends." Heaton raised his eyebrows. "He's the owner of this restaurant; just make yourself at home." Little Jelly Bean dug into her strawberry ice cream. Her lips were smudged when she said, "Daddy, since we earned so much money today, can you bring me to the amusement park and buy me fried chicken this weekend?" Heaton stared at his

Serene wrapped her arms around Wilson's neck. She appeared taller than the man as her legs encircled his waist. The woman furrowed her brows and glared at him. "Why didn't you approach me earlier if you already knew who I am?" If he had approached her earlier, she would have chosen a handsome and loyal guy like him instead of wasting three years of her youth with a guy like Chainer. Serene recalled her school days and thought about how she had been such a fool. Chainer never cared about her, but she always threw herself at him. Her last bit of fondness toward Chainer was all but gone after he tried to defame Wilson. Wilson carried her and put her on top of the kitchen counter. He supported himself with both hands pressed against the kitchen counter. "I've thought about approaching you earlier, but my identity and my job were too unusual. Furthermore, you were too young back then, too. I was afraid that I would scare you away." Serene asked, "Aren't you afraid that I would l

Wilson was prepared to cook dinner after they got back to the apartment. "What do you want to eat for dinner?" "Stir-fried shredded potatoes with green pepper and tomato egg drop soup." Wilson opened the refrigerator and took the ingredients that he needed. "Again? Aren't you sick of them?" Serene ran to the kitchen from the living room. She stared at Wilson and asked hesitantly, "Hey… I need to ask you something." "Go ahead." Serene took a deep breath and solemnly said, "Chainer told me that you stole his woman." Stole his woman? Wilson wanted to laugh when he heard that. He put the tomatoes on the table and looked at Serene. "Did he tell you how I stole his woman?" Serene nodded and said, "He said you knew about Gwen's crush on him. So, you drank him under the table and made him sleep with Gwen after that." Wilson remained calm. He stared at her with his dark eyes. "If what he said was true, would you blame and hate me for it?" Serene bit her lips and frowned. "

Serene turned around and was about to enter the office when Chainer grabbed her arm. Serene pulled back and turned around to look at him. "Is there anything else you need?" "Come on, Serene. Can't we talk about other stuff besides these usual platitudes?" Serene was amused. "Mr. Chainer, have you forgotten that we are no longer together? On top of that, we broke up a long time ago. I have a boyfriend now, and you have a fiancée; we shouldn't meet privately considering our current situation. If you want to send us your wedding invitation, you can get Gwen to give it to Wilson since they're related." "But you have your card, and he has his. You guys are not married yet, right?" Serene answered frankly, "Even though we're not married yet, we'll get married eventually." A trace of unhappiness flashed in Chainer's eyes. "Are you really planning to marry him?" Serene stared at him in disbelief and started to laugh. "Mr. Chainer, I don't think it's any of your business." "You
