Chapter 7

During lunch the feeling of someone watching me doesn't go away. It is hard to shake the sense that something bad is going to happen soon. The cold from the winter outside seems to be inside of my body because I keep shivering uncontrollably. I am in my head going over everything that might happen when someone plops down next to me at the table.

"Since when are you the damsel in distress?" Amber laughs playfully, yet I can tell she was sad.

"Maybe if you stopped running off alone this wouldn't happen anymore!" Heather sits down on the other side of me and we all laugh. They embrace me on both sides in a group hug. 

"Alight bitches get off of me!" I lightly shove them off and go back to eating with a big smile on my face.

"So, how was your reunion with Co-"

"Amber! Seriously? She just got back!" Heather stands up, reaches over me and smacks the back of Amber's head.

"It lasted all night actually." I don't even look up from my sandwich, I just smirk and take another bite.

"Dang girl!" Amber cracks herself up and Heather just chuckles to herself while shaking her head.

We spend the rest of the day in Amber's room catching up on everything other than my own ordeal. Heather has been living in her new pack with her mate. This is the first time the three of us have been apart this long, ever. It is getting late now and Colin is due back anytime so I tell the girls I have to say goodbye.

"Wait, I need to tell you guys something." Heather seems cautious about what she is about to say. Amber and I just look at her, waiting for what it is.

"Phillip and I.. well I... I went through my first heat and.. we.. are having a pup!" With the last word she bursts into happy tears. Amber and I stand up, flinging our arms around Heather.

"Oh my Goddess Heather! I am so happy for you guys! That is amazing! Congratulations, is it a boy or girl?"

I am pretty much screaming at her. Heather has always wanted to find her mate and have a litter of pups.

"We don't know yet, we will find out in a few weeks."

Us being half wolves, we have shorter pregnancies than humans do. Typically, we are only pregnant around five months, so our pups develop quicker than human babies.

"How was your heat? I haven't had mine yet." Amber still hasn't found her mate, poor girl. She'll be eighteen in a couple of months, so she's gone almost a full year without one. I'm sure her wolf is sad.

"It was so intense, but luckily Phillip and I, well, we pretty much stayed locked up in our room having sex the entire week. It was so amazing." Heather seems almost reminiscent of her heat week.

It is hard to stay happy for her. Talking about it brings my own reminiscing of my heat week and the pain that I felt without any relief from my mate. Heather must have noticed my sudden change in mood.

"Oh, Ellie, I am so sorry. I heard what you went through. I didn't mean to make you think about it. I'm so stupid! Please forgive me!" A tear leaves her eye and I bring my hand up to wipe it away.

"You have absolutely nothing to be sorry about! I am fine. I'm not damaged goods and you do not need to tiptoe around me. Honestly! I'm so happy for you Heather, really!"

We all hug again and I head back to my room. On the way there I think about my heat and what I went through. The pain was so intense that I doubted I would make it through. If they didn't sedate me at the hospital in the state I was in, I probably wouldn't have. I shake the thoughts out of my head, and when I get to our room I find a note on the door with my name on it. I open it and it reads:

My dearest Luna,

Please put the dress on that is laying on the bed and meet me in our new room. I will be awaiting your arrival and I intend on keeping my promise to you. I will take care of you all night long. I will take care of you every night for the rest of our lives. Follow your nose and your heart to me Ellie.

He knows that I am a hopeless romantic. I shake my head and close my eyes. I take a deep breath into my nose, inhaling my mates potent scent and then let off an excited squeal. My eyes open and I am on my mission.

I open the door and see the dress that the note mentioned and quickly put it on. It is simple, yet beautiful! It is a thigh length black long sleeved dress with a sweetheart neckline and a heart cut-out on the back. As soon as I am dressed I head out to find Colin.

"Ooh, this is so exciting!" Leia is now prancing in my head at the little hide and seek game we have found ourselves in.

"I know!!" I sound like a little school girl as I say that out loud.

I go down a few hallways of the pack house letting my nose lead me. I am basically floating every step of the way in pure happiness and excitement. Turning down a hallway I have never been down I find a trail of Carnations leading to a set of French doors at the end. I finally stop at the door with all of the Carnations and the note in my hands.

I smell the flowers and smile, trying to calm my nerves and settle my heart rate, which is currently trying to beat out of my chest. I knock on the doors and as they both open, there is Colin.

He is dressed in an all black suit with his signature top two buttons undone. I purr and it definitely is loud enough for Colin to hear. I bite my lip at the sight of him in a suit and he gives off a little laugh.

"Not yet Ellie." He takes the note out of my hand and places it in his back pocket. He then brings my hand up to his lips, kisses it softly and smiles up at me.

Standing up he wraps his hand around my waist and steps to the side of me revealing the room that I haven't even glanced at until now. It is gorgeous and everything looks perfect. It is much larger than the rest of the pack house rooms.

There is a four poster California king bed, a bathroom with it's own set of French doors, a sitting area with a balcony that has a little propane heater and a couple of chairs. I see two doors that must each lead to separate closets, a bookshelf with lots of books and a vanity with makeup and hair stuff.

I take it all in, completely amazed that it was all done today. My eyes finally land on the center of the room. There are Roses and Carnations laid out in the shape of a heart on the floor and in the center is a black velvet jewelry box.

My jaw falls and Colin lets go of my hand before walking to the heart, kneeling down and picking up the box. He smiles up at me and I am still in shock.

"Ellie, please, come here." I slowly make my way over to him still in disbelief of the scene in front of me. My heart is picking up its pace along with my breath.
