“Alpha gave us strict orders Josie. We cannot leave this door unattended.”

Oh my Goddess, it’s Josie! The image of her face pops into my head and tears prick at my eyes. It's been so long since I have seen a friendly face, but I don't know who to trust anymore, so I am weary.

“JUST LET ME IN THERE. NOW!” She booms back at them. The door to my cellar opens with a loud echoing slam, then I hear Josie gasp.

“Oh my goddess. Ellie!” Her hands slap against her mouth, tears stream down her face and Josie is instantly on her knees. She never takes her eyes off of me but keeps her hands on her mouth while her head shakes slowly from side to side a few times.

“What has he done to you? How long have you been down here? Oh Goddess Ellie, I swear, I had no idea you were down here! If it wasn’t for your screaming and a few of the unmated wolves acting strange I .. I.. oh Ellie!”

She rambles on like she feels guilty which makes me feel so sad for her. I will never blame anyone in this pack for what their Alpha has done to me. I had a suspicion that no one knew I was here except for a handful of warriors and omegas. This just confirms that for me.

“Josie, don’t feel bad, you.. you didn’t know.”

My voice trails off, I am so tired from the pain of my heat and from all of the wolfsbane and silver. I don’t have much conversation left in me.

"None of us did Ellie."

Her voice seems to sadden a little more.

"After the ball no one could find you or that Victoria girl. Alpha Shane and Alpha Lawrence sent out search parties for you both. Your mate Colin needed to be sedated because his wolf couldn't calm down."

She takes a deep breath and closes her eyes. I think she is remembering the past two weeks and seeing the images in her head. She opens them back up and with another quivering breath she continues.

"Shane has had our warriors help your pack look the entire time, that sick asshole. Brandon is terrified about your safety and has been out there twenty-four seven leading the search. Your mate is devastated, he hardly eats and refuses to sleep until you're found and you're safe. He's a good one Ellie he really is."
