chapter 7

Penulis: A Short Novel
She quietly asked the driver to follow the cab in front, which led her to a graveyard in the suburbs.

Miao Wanwan thought that Ling would bury her friend in a random graveyard. She had never expected it to be here.

She really cared a lot for her friend.

Her jealousy for Miao Xiaobei became stronger. She quickened her footsteps and followed her.

"I'm sorry. I took so long to come here and see you," Miao Xiaobei said as she knelt on the ground, her eyes slightly red.

"Xiaolan, it's all my fault. I shouldn't have asked you to help me. Otherwise, this accident would never have happened. I'm so resentful. I hate Murong Ling and Miao Wanwan so much that I can't wait to tear them into millions of pieces. Then, you will be revenged."

Her voice was choked, and her eyes were filled with hatred.

The heavens seemed to understand how miserable she was feeling, and it began to rain heavily.

Miao Xiaobei raised her head and leaned it against the tombstone. The heavy rain-drops pattered on her face.

She had loved him for an entire seven years, yet he had utterly trampled her love for him into dust. He had insulted her, harmed her family, and now, her friend had died.

How could she not hate him? How could she not be exasperated?

"Your biggest mistake was falling in love with someone who doesn't love you," Miao Wanwan commented as she walked out from behind a tree.

"Why are you here?" Miao Xiaobei stood up. Her body swayed.

She hurriedly supported herself against the tombstone to prevent losing her balance. She was a little taken aback by Miao Wanwan's appearance.

Miao Wanwan snorted and said, "Of course, I'm here to see you how pathetic you are now. Miao Xiaobei, you indeed have a charmed life. You didn't even die after giving birth. I thought you would stay unconscious for a long time, but instead, you woke up soon after. What good fortune you have had in your life."

She walked towards Miao Xiaobei as she spoke those words.

"Is it painful to witness your friend dying for you, right before your eyes? Look at her grayish picture on the tombstone. Her life would be colorful, if not for you. Now she's going to lie in that cold, dark place all alone. She will never be able to see the light again."

She pushed all the blame onto Miao Xiaobei.

Miao Xiaobei staggered. She was right. Xiaolan had indeed lost her life because of her.

And she had caused all of this.

If she had not rescued Murong Ling in the beginning, and if she hadn't mentioned the rescue to Miao Wanwan, then none of this would have happened.

It was all her fault.

"Miao Xiaobei, you are my half-sister, yet you're stronger than me in all areas. Why must you snatch Ling from me? I'm his rightful wife, but now I can only be his nameless lover. You caused all of this. You are the one who snatches my place."

After hearing this, Miao Xiaobei thought that she had gone crazy.

"Your place? Miao Wanwan, you pretended to be his savior and did so many immoral things. How can you be so shameless as to say that all of this belongs to you? Say, if Murong Ling knew that your child..."

"Shut up!" Miao Wanwan bellowed.

"Miao Xiaobei, so what if I pretended to be his savior? So what if I've lied to him? Didn't you tell him the truth? But Ling doesn't believe in you. In fact, he hates you. Oh, how he wishes to drink your blood and swallow your flesh. Do you know how your mom died? Ling forced her to death. What medicine? It's all a lie. All he did was to torture you as a revenge for me."

Despite of the heavy rain, she was growing more and more excited as she spoke.

"By the way, about your child. When you were still unconscious on the second day, Ling couldn't wait for you, and he urged the doctors to begin the heart transplant surgery. They did not even write down which surgical room was used. Until now, no one knew where they had discarded the child's body," she said, cackling.

Miao Xiaobei's body began to tremble in anger. She grasped the tombstone tightly until there were blood stains. The last energy she had gathered in her had utterly collapsed the moment she heard this.

"Murong Ling, you are truly ruthless."

"Miao Wanwan, I'll definitely make both of you pay" she said hoarsely. She bit her lower lip.

"Hmph, that depends on whether you leave this place alive," Miao Wanwan said.

Miao Xiaobei retreated in horror. She did not know that Miao Wanwan wanted her dead so badly.

"I'm doing this for your own good. You should join your good friend and your child, as well as your cheap mom."

After she finished her sentence, she strode forward and grabbed Miao Xiaobei's head to bash it against the tombstone.

Miao Xiaobei tried her best to struggle, but she was too frail. She was knocked unconscious.

Blood flowed down the tombstone, but it was washed off by the rain within seconds.

Miao Wanwan glanced around before strenuously dragged the unconscious body up to the top of the hill.

Half an hour later, she leaned over and looked down at the foot of the hill. However, the mist had blocked the view, and she could see nothing at all.

"Miao Xiaobei, you brought this on yourself."

Then, she pushed Miao Xiaobei down the hill. With her strength fully exerted, Miao Wanwan lay flat on the ground and let the heavy rain fall upon her.

Meanwhile, Murong Ling had no idea what had happened.

He thought Miao Xiaobei was still lying in the hospital bed. He was cross at how imbecilic she was. She didn't even care about her child.

He secretly thought of ignoring her for a few days, so that things would go back to how they were previously. But he did not know that she was already in trouble.

Miao Wanwan stayed on the top of the hill for half an hour before leaving, looking calm.

However, when she came down from the hill, she felt a chill down her spine. The place felt spooky, and she began to feel anxious as she hurriedly called a cab and left the scene.

I love you so much, and you know that I have cancer, yet you're still sending me to that gloomy hellhole. I'm devastated."Miao Wanwan looked up at the sky as she spoke, a single tear falling from the corner of her eye.Miao Xiaobei paid absolutely no attention to her words. Her entire being was focused on the sleeping child wrapped in her arms. She was so afraid that Miao Wanwan would fall off the cliff accidentally if she was startled or shifted her weight a little."Miao Xiaobei, I hate you so much, do you know that? Why you are better than me at everything? Even your luck is better! Why don't I have anything? My entire life, I've had to struggle just for a few scraps of happiness, but you snatched everything away. How can I not hate you?" she wailed.Murong Ling signaled for Miao Xiaobei to keep talking to her, then he silently edged towards the space behind her."Do you know how muc

Murong Ling held onto her with all his might and he roared in a low voice.Due to his cold, his breath was a little unstable and he suddenly began to cough violently. She could feel his warm breath against her neck, intertwining with her own from time to time. It was hard to differentiate them.Miao Xiaobei was no longer struggling. She had been waiting to hear those three words for seven years. What was the point of him saying them now? Many things had already happened and they would never be able to turn back the clock. Both of them kept silent as Murong Ling's coughs started to quieten down. He leaned his warm face closer to her neck as he said in his hoarse voice, "I really love you.""I'm serious. "You deliberately stood in the rain to get a fever so that you could stay with Mom. I guess Mom really hates you," he said.Upon listening to those words, the man in the bed opened his eyes, his face unwrinkled by any frown."Oh, are you not going to pretend to sleep anymore?" the child said, supporting his chin in his hand.Murong Ling blushed. How was this little kid smart enough to know that he was pretending to be asleep? He had thought there was no loophole in his plan. Even Miao Xiaobei had not realized it, so how could a child have figured it out?The little fellow sighed helplessly."You pretended to be sick in order to see how Mom would react, so there's no way you would have fallen asleep for real," he said, analyzing it logically.Murong Ling really didn't know whether he should cry or laugh in response. Why was this kid trying to act intelligent with that tiny brain of his? However, his attitude towards had at least improved since last time. He was speaking more and

From now on, you will stay with me, okay?"She let go of him and used her hand to wipe away his tears. The child hesitated for a moment before nodding, then suddenly burst into tears. This shocked the four of them."I'm not an abandoned child anymore.
