Niyah’s POV

“What about my sixth mate ?”, I asked.

Grandpa heaved a sigh and said, “Niyah, you just have to trust me this last time.”

“What is it Grandpa ? You are scaring me”, I gulped nervously as I saw him frown and get red all over his face.

“Don’t worry, child ! There is nothing to be scared of. I want to tell you about your Grandma first”, he said as he calmed back himself.

“What about her, Grandpa ?”, I asked.

“After our forced rejection, your Grandma found another mate. As you know, it was Victor. Victor has had five mates till now, three vampire powers and six wolves just like you”, he started listing our similarities when realization dawned on me.

The shock shook my nerves as if someone had poured a bucket of cold water on me !

“I-It ca-can’t be-e G-Grandpa”, I stammered nervously.

“Yes Niyah, it is what you think- Victor is your sixth mate”, he said.

My world seemed to have tumbled upside down with this revelation.

“Oh God ! Why did the Moon Goddess give me a mate who was Grandma’s too ?”, I asked horrified.

“Niyah, everything happens for a reason, child. Never reject your mate. He might be monstrous but you need to find the strength to stay true to the mate bond”, Grandpa said softly.

“But he almost killed Grandma and rejected her ! How can you take his side ?”, I asked him in disbelief.

“We are true warriors with royal blood in our veins, Niyah ! We will never do anything against the wishes of the Moon Goddess”, he calmly taught me.

“What if I have to fight him ?”, I asked

“Niyah, do you know the real power of the Red Stone and the Blue Opal ?”, Grandpa asked unexpectedly.

“No”, I mumbled under my breath.

“The Blue Opal lies in the deep recesses of the Ocean Spirit Lake guarded by the dragon of the true master of the Red Stone. Jace and Katie are not the true guardians, the Opal in their possession is a fake one, made by me personally”, he revealed.

“Do Jace and Katie know ?”, I asked.

“No. Victor has the power of Lie Detection. Lisa and I couldn’t risk the detection of the fake stone before the Master of the Red Stone was known”, he said.

“Does Victor have a dragon or opal too ?”, I asked raising my brow.

“No Niyah. Those stones are possessions of my ancestors- the ancient purebloods but it was said that the dragon would answer to no one but its true master”, Grandpa said.

“However, you need to be careful, Niyah ! Zelda was a very powerful witch too. She gifted a six hooded snake to Victor. So, your powers are almost matched except that he has lost three mates and hence, three wolves already”, he added.

“Grandpa, was killing the mates of my mate wrong ?”, I lowered my head grimacing the fact that I must have hurt my mate.

“No Niyah ! You did not know about it back then and evil needs to wiped off whenever you can. Although Victor is destined to be your sixth mate but if he or as a matter of fact, even the rest of your five mates walk on the path of evil with no return, then do not hesitate to kill them if you can”, he said.

“Also, a royal’s duty is to protect his/her people from harm- even if it means killing your dear ones. But then this should not become a reason for going on a killing spree too”, Grandpa chuckled.

Although everything was too heavy to take in at once, the happiness of finding my Grandpa trumped it all.
