chapter 3

Niyah’s POV

I woke up fairly early in the morning at 4 am.

It had become a habit of mine to wake up early and train before the others woke up.

So, I crept out of the pack house and went to the woods to train.

I didn’t notice the presence behind me until a male deep, soothing voice said,

“You need to control your mind first, child. The power to feel and express lies in your mind. Open it up to all kinds of vibrations. Train it to be under your control completely.”

“Master !”, I bowed my head with folded hands as I saw the Ancient Master appear before me.

“This is not the place to train. Come with me. I will show you the way”, he said in a gruff voice.

“Yes Master !”, I said.

He led me to the Silver Bow Waterfalls and asked me to get into the river by the bank and hold my left leg above the right knee and balance myself while keeping my arms folded above my head and concentrate at the center of my forehead.

I stayed in this pose till I suddenly heard Sage’s voice, “Niyah ! It’s midnight. Come back home, baby. You need to feed and rest !”

I opened my eyes slowly and realized that the Ancient Master had long gone.

As I wadded through the water towards Sage, I suddenly felt the water around me make a wall as the waters parted out to let me reach the land safely.

Sage caught me in his arms and kissed me fervently everywhere.

He asked me if I was ok and I nodded my head.

“Did you just control the water around you ?”, Sage asked in shock.

“I don’t know. I just didn’t want to wade through the river so I just wished for the water to part away as I walked”, I said.

“Baby, just feed on me for tonight. Let’s get you to bed so that you are energized tomorrow”, Sage said as he carried me bridal style to our bedroom.

The next morning, the Ancient Master took me to a huge cliff that overlooked the Silver Bow Falls.

“Jump from here, Niyah and trust your mind. Control all the elements- air, earth, water and fire and let the energy flow from your mind and spread through your body”, the Ancient Master said as moved his arms in a graceful circular motion and asked me to follow his movements.

I felt I was truly handling a ball of energy as I followed the Master’s movements.

I looked beneath the cliff and saw the river flowing with great gusto while the cliff itself had a very deep gorge.

I needed to trust the energy inside me but how would I know that ? This was a leap of faith or a means to break my neck !

Afterall there was a thin line between the two.

“Niyah”, the Ancient Master softly said. “Just trust your mind.”

I closed my eyes and concentrated at the center of my mind again as if trying to gather the energy of my surroundings.

I felt the air dance in sync to the movement of my fingertips while land beneath me seemed to shake slowly as I stepped at the edge of the cliff with my eyes still closed.

I could feel my surroundings bow to my command as I took a deep breath and spread out my arms, flying my way down to the steep cliff.

The air seemed to be counter balancing my fall while the waves of the river at the base of the waterfall started to leap up high.

My feet gently landed on the high waves as I swayed my hips to one side and gracefully moved my arms and hands as if lifting up something invisible.

The trees by the bank, bent their branches towards me as I lightly alighted their sturdy branches and jumped to firm ground with my one knee touching the ground and my fist making contact with the latter.

“Atmoskinesis- that’s your power”, the Ancient Master said. “The great influencer of all elements on the Earth.”

I bowed to my master but as soon as I looked up into his eyes, I gasped.

“Grandpa !?”, I blurted out.

“Niyah ! Stop playing with my mind. Calm down, child !”, he said as he creased his forehead and rubbed his temples, clearly agitated.

I controlled my mind from erupting into strong vibrations and looked at the Ancient Master as he felt relatively at ease than before.

“You have another power, child. The power of Penance Illusion- you can make anyone feel a strong amount of guilt, dear”, he chuckled as he rubbed his temples to ease.

“My mother has your eyes. No wonder you looked familiar”, I whispered.

“Yes. I saved your Grandma, Lisa’s and my child when she was pursued by the warriors of the Ocean Spirit Pack. I raised your mother on my own and taught her everything I knew. When she grew up, I enrolled her to Asheville- the school of my nemesis, Victor King. That’s where she met her mate and then had you”, Grandpa smiled gently as he stroked my head.

“You are just like your mother- fearless but a naughty brat, all the same”, he chuckled.

“So Grandma Lisa DID commit adultery”, I asked in shock.

“No, we were married already as we were mates but we had to keep it a secret as the time was not right to announce our relationship. The former Alpha of the Ocean Spirit Pack was blinded with his obsession for her that he forcefully took her away from me and threw me in his torture cell”, he said sadly.

“Why didn’t you tell everyone about your marriage with Grandma Lisa ?”, I asked.

“We were both purebloods from the Royal family. We were already fighting our own set of enemies individually. So we decided to keep the marriage and mate bond a secret for the time being”, he sighed.

“What about my mother’s birth ?”, I asked.

“You know what it means to go through heat, right ?”, he asked.

“Um-mm no Grandpa”, I shook my head.

“A she-wolf goes through heat for a few weeks every two years which indicates her ovulation period. That’s the time when she is ready to bear children”, he explained.

I remembered about my own personal experiences and widened my eyes on realization.

“I went through it too”, I said quietly.

Grandpa chuckled and said, “I am looking forward to see my great-grandchildren. I am sure they will be as fearless and good looking like you and your mates.”

I blushed at his last comment and hurriedly changed the topic, “What happened next, Grandpa ?”

“Right after our marriage, your Grandma went through heat and conceived but the mighty Alpha had already captured us”, he said.

“But you guys were married and the mate bond would not have allowed her to marry someone else !”, I pointed out.

“Yes. So the Alpha held me hostage and threatened to kill me infront of her eyes if she didn’t reject me. If she did, he would let me live and go”, he said tears rolling down his cheeks.

“And Grandma did all this to save her true mate’s life ?”, I asked touched by my Grandma’s sacrifice.

“Yes she endured everything for me but gave me the best gift I could’ve ever asked for- your dear mother. She was an angel sent from heaven”, Grandpa said getting teary eyed.

“Is this why you were feeling guilty right now when I used my power of Penance Illusion on you ?”, I asked.

He nodded his head and his eyes squinted in sadness.

“Were you the one who told Victor about his destiny too ?”, I asked cautiously, remembering about the guilt trip my Grandpa went through a few moments back.

“Yes. I foresaw that he would try to kill Lisa. So, I sent my best friend, The Great Master to save her while I diverted Victor’s attention”, he said.

“Does that make me the Alpha Female of the prophesy, Grandpa ?”, I asked  

“Yes dear. You will have three vampire powers and six wolves for each of your mate”, he said.

“Wait a minute. I have one more vampire power and one more mate ?”, I asked in shock and disbelief at the same time.

“Yes. As far as I can sense, I believe you have the third power of Fault Detection- you have the power to sense the weakness of both, objects and individuals”, he said.

“Is that why I was able to kill Laira, Chian and Jenette ?”, I pondered.

“Yes your subconscious knew about your power and catalyzed your reflexes. That is why you could defeat them so easily”, he explained.

“What about my sixth mate ?”, I asked.
