“You don’t need to apologize to me, you just need to apologize to mom. She was so worried about you that she’s suffering from insomnia. She even has to wait for you now,” Jade said.

“I’m sorry, it’s all my fault.” Jade's father felt extremely embarrassed.

“The lawyer said you could get a commuted sentence if you behave well.”

Jade’s father had tears swimming in his eyes.

After talking for a while, Jade’s father asked, “How are you and Zephaniah?”

“Not really good. We’re getting divorced.” Jade did not hide the truth.

Jade’s father was stunned for a moment before he said remorsefully, “It’s my fault. If I didn’t force Zephaniah to marry you back then, you wouldn’t be feeling so unhappy right now.”

Jade shook her head.

She knew her father did it out of love for her.

At that time, she only mentioned that she liked Zephaniah, and her father had immediately gone to the Owens family. Coincidentally, the Owens family needed her father to do them a favor right then, so the marriage was decided. Her father loved her, and he would give her everything she wanted.

She wanted to thank her father because after she married Zephaniah and learned that he did not love her, she completely got rid of the longing for him in her heart. She did not feel heartbroken even when she filed for divorce.

Once visiting hours ended, the prison guard started to demand her to leave, so Jade reluctantly bade her father goodbye.

After she left the prison, she took a taxi to return to the city area.

Perhaps it was due to a lack of rest, but Jade felt a weight on her chest. There was even pain in her stomach. She slowly lost consciousness due to the pain, and when she woke up, she was already in the hospital.

“Miss, you should rest well when you’re pregnant.” A nurse noticed that Jade had woken up, and she could not help but say, “Your pregnancy is still not stable. If you don’t rest well, you’ll suffer a miscarriage.”

According to the nurse, Jade fainted in the taxi, and the driver sent her to the hospital.

Jade did not say anything. She obediently let the nurse perform the examination for her. Only when the nurse said she could leave did she put on her shoes and slowly walk out of the ward.

People came and went in the long corridor. Everyone had different facial expressions; some were happy, while some were sad.

She saw a married couple passing by with a baby in their arms. The newborn baby was wrapped up in a blanket, and the husband was gently poking the newborn baby’s rosy cheeks. His face showed a happy smile. “Dear, look, his mouth is just like yours.”

The wife smacked him lightly. She was a little unhappy. “Are you saying that my mouth is big?”

“Not at all, you’re the prettiest woman in the world!”

Jade watched the married couple walk away, and she felt jealous. She subconsciously touched her stomach. A little life was growing inside her stomach now. Perhaps, in the future, she would also have a pair of black eyes staring back at her.

Jade slowly leaned against the wall and slid down until she squatted on the ground. She could not hold her tears anymore. “I’m sorry, I’m really sorry.”

When Jade went back to Easton Mcdaniel’s house, she realized that he was back home, playing with Taylor.

“I’m sorry, the negotiation took two more days.” Easton was very apologetic about asking Jade to look after Taylor for so long. When he saw how pale she was, he could not help but ask, “What’s wrong? Why do you look so pale?”

Jade shook her head and forced herself to smile. “Easton, could you do me a favor?”

Zephaniah was still pulling his hair out while searching for Jade.

It was only when he started to look for her that he realized he did not understand her much, and he did not know her friends. He could not find her in both her mother’s place and her company, so he could only continue to drive as he searched for her aimlessly.

He did not know why he felt so agitated either. All he thought was he should have been the one to ask for the divorce first, and Jade should not have been the one who took the initiative. Now, she made him look like a heartless man who oppressed her.

While Zephaniah was considering asking a hacker to help locate Jade’s phone, his phone rang. It was an unknown number.

However, he had a vague feeling that it was from Jade, so he hurriedly picked it up. “Jade?”

“It’s me.” Jade hummed before she spoke calmly, “Zephaniah, let’s go to my mom’s place for dinner tonight.”

“Okay, I’ll go.”

Zephaniah finally breathed a sigh of relief.

A call from Jade meant they still had some wiggle room.

Yet, to Zephaniah’s surprise, when he arrived at her mother’s place, the one who opened the door for him was neither Jade’s mother nor Jade. It was a tall man.

The somewhat familiar feeling made Jade flinch. She subconsciously wanted to pull her arm back, but the man tightly grabbed onto her. Jade looked up and met his gaze, and she immediately lost herself in the gentle and loving eyes. She gulped. “Ze-Zephaniah.” The man lowered his eyes and glanced at Deniz. Without any explanation, Zephaniah stepped forward and lifted up Jade. Deniz, who was left behind, stared as Jade’s feet were suddenly lifted in the air. His gaze trailed after them, and he was left speechless by what he saw before him. He gulped and chased after Zephaniah. “Hey, director! Put our director down!” After he chased after them for a few steps, he got worried about their luggage. Deniz was torn between the two options before him. He saw Gemarya then and rushed toward him. The man patted his shoulder. “Mister Owens will take care of Miss Redfern. You just need to check-in into the hotel.” Deniz noticed that Gemarya had a faint smile, and he suddenly unders

After asking what she wanted to know, Jade looked down and stared at Nephele in front of her. “Do you need me to send you home?” “No need. Don’t think that I’ll thank you after helping me once.” Nephele’s smile was pale, and her voice was cold. “Whatever.” Jade looked away and turned away. She walked toward the elevator at the back, and the sound of her high heels stepping on the ground resounded through the corridor. Her tone was very cold when she added, “I hope you can answer the call on time next time, so that I’ll not be troubled like today.” After saying that, she reached the elevator. After she waited quietly for a while, she entered and chose the first floor. She gave off a restrained aura, but she was still obviously capable and imposing.Ding! As the door of the elevator slowly opened, Jade walked out and saw an elderly woman in a wheelchair being slowly pushed forward. Jade had met Heidi’s mother once at Howells family. Compared to her appearance now, the chang

It was as if Jade found it unbelievable. She ignored the dampness and flipped the document that she held tightly in her hands open. She skimmed over it, and her eyes became brighter. From the corner of her eyes, she saw her cell phone on the table. She picked it up and dialed a contact. No one answered the call for a very long time. Jade could only end the call and look up while she asked Deniz, “Do you know where Miss Kirby went?” Deniz pursed his lips. “I overheard her answering a call when she headed out. It seemed like a phone call from a doctor.” “Doctor…” Jade was stunned for a second, but she quickly came back to her senses. She retrieved her coat from the clothes stand behind her and was ready to leave. “I’m heading out. If Mister Whittle looks for me, tell him that I’m meeting a client.” After she said that, she put on her coat and left. ... A woman with pale complexion was leaning against the hospital corridor’s white tile wall. Her eyes were filled with des

After the regular meeting on Monday, Mister Whittle asked Jade to stay. She could guess what the subsequent discussion would contain. When she walked out from the meeting room, he spoke to an assistant on the way to his office. “Ask Nephele to come to my office.” The assistant quickly hummed and ran away. He disappeared at the end of the corridor. Jade remained silent and followed Mister Whittle to the elevator. When the door of the elevator slowly closed, Mister Whittle sighed. “A few vice presidents and I unanimously adopted a resolution. We’ll let you take up the position of director of the Marketing Department.” Mister Whittle stood at the position near to the door of the elevator, while Jade stood at the back. It was not easy for her to immediately notice his expression, but she could feel that his emotions were not very good.“You’re worried that I don’t have sufficient qualifications. You can’t convince others and you can’t be sure whether I can actually handle this pos

“Didn’t Mister Long tell you that he only hired you because of a friend’s recommendation?” Jade took another sip of wine. She noticed that Heidi’s body was swaying, as if she had understood something, so she continued. “Didn’t you ask him who’s the friend? I believe it’s very hard for someone with a past of academic fraud to seek out a high-paying job, right?” Heidi suddenly recalled what Mister Long had told her when he instructed her to come over in the morning. He seemed to have been implying that it would be easier to seal the deal with someone familiar. She had thought he was indirectly asking her to build a good relationship with the other party so that things would be easier in the future, but clearly, she had misunderstood Mister Long’s meaning. Heidi suddenly looked up at Jade and clenched her teeth. “It’s you.” Jade appeared nonchalant. She placed her wine glass on the table with a soft clink. The sound made Heidi tremble as if it had hit her heart. “Your mother is

During the weekend, before Jade went out, she was not surprised to receive a call from Mister Long. After calmly listening to him, she chuckled cheerfully. “It’s okay, Mister Long. Please go ahead with your work. You can just send a staff member you trust to discuss the business with me.”She stopped for a while, patiently listened to the question on the other side, and said again, “It’s not really a big deal. I just wanted to give you some feedback on the aspect of the data issues. This was initially concerning the Data Department, but after all, you’re my important client…” After she hung up, she showed the ghost of a smile. She turned back and glanced at the kitchen. “Mum, I want to go to the supermarket and buy some groceries. What do you want to eat at noon?” When Jade’s mother heard it, she could not help but look surprised. Before she spoke, the caregiver came out in a hurry. “Miss Redfern, didn’t you say you’re meeting a client later? You can just leave this task to me.”
