chapter 25

Waking up next to Mathias still feels like a dream for Alexis, but dreams never really last long do they, Alexis soon realizes that she'll need to get back to going to class eventually and by Friday, she realizes she doesn't even want to go back to her weekend night job either.

*Phone ringing*

"Hello, this is Charlie speaking"

"Hey boss!" Alexis says

"Oh Alexis! How are you?"

"Umm there's something I've been meaning to talk to you about?"

"You don't want to work here anymore do you?" Her boss being very understanding says

"I'm sorry boss, I just can't do it anymore. And working basically alone when it's a constant rush is getting to me, I can't breathe"

"Hey sweetie, you've been great working here, but I knew you were destined for greater things in life than working in a club, don't feel bad for wanting to quit your job ok"

"Thanks boss for understanding, you're the best!" 

"Good luck kid, see you around!"

 When Alexis hangs up, Mathias walks in the bedroom from taking a shower. 

"Who was that baby?" He asks walking over to her kissing her softly on the lips

"I called work..."

"Oh and?"

"I quit my job, Mathias"

"Oh and here I thought it was bad news" He laughs

"Well now I have to find a new job to pay for school, so it kinda is"

"I told you let me take care of you, and you're going back on Monday,  right?"

"Yeah, I'm going back...."

"But..?" He says peeling away the towel from his body and Alexis can't help but stare

"See something you like babe?" He jokes with her

"Huh? What?" She blushes 

"See something you like?" Mathias laughs

"Yes everything, I like everything" Her face red as fire 

"I sensed your were going to say something else after school..."

"Oh yeah....Well you asked me a while a back to move in with you....?" She says afraid of Mathias' answer 

"When shall we go pack your stuff? Or I can send a few Omegas to do it while you set up some space here" He says as he's pulling on a pair of jeans 

"Really??" Alexis says with surprise and shock in her voice 

"Of course I meant it then and I mean it now" He says "And I'll even drive you to and from myself from class! And if I can't, I'll get either Jax or Eric to pick you up!" 

"OH MATHIAS!!" Alexis jumps in his arms with her arms around his neck and legs around his waist. Happy tears trickle down her face as she covers Mathias' face in kisses. Her heart burting with love and happiness and Mathias can feel it all with the Mate Bond, he laughs and happy he gets to keep his love close every night.

Monday soon follows and Alexis is sitting in class, restless and watching the minutes slowly tick by until she gets to be with Mathias again but can't shake the feeling that she's being watched again even in class. She tries to concentrate and try to talk to her wolf, but both to no avail. Soon, she can breathe and step out of class with another day done but freezes in place. Her feet cemented to the floor of the hallway with Jax picking her up from college, he must be wondering why she's not walking out yet.

"Well well well what do we have here? And here I thought they were just gossip" The voice says and his friends laugh 

"Leave me alone " Alexis snarls at the man standing in front of her 

"Awe Angel,  you know I can't do that"

A cold shiver runs down her spine at the nickname.

"What do you want? What are you doing here?" Alexis asks trying to keep her voice calm.

"I came to see if the rumors were true and if they were to bring you back were you belong, home with me" Rick says authoritatively 

"I have a home, and it's not with you and what you call friends"

Rick's lackies sneer at her like rabid dogs

Alexis feels Jax's presence near ready to pounce in they lay a hand on her

"Alexis?" Jax puts a gentle hand in her shoulder "Are you ready to go home?"

"Yeah I'm ready, take me home" Alexis says with a pleading look

"Who's this? You're new boyfriend?" Rick asks with jealousy 

"I'm her friend, if you saw her boyfriend, you'd be dead by now"

"Oooohh I'm so scared!" He says mockingly 

"Rick just leave" Alexis says taking a step beside Rick 

"Yeah RICK, leave" Jax spits out his name like venom on his tongue 

Just as Jax and Alexis head for the door, Rick grabs Alexis' wrist hard enough to leave a mark

"You'll be crawling back soon enough Angel" He whispers about to say something else but Jax turns in lightning speed and grabs Rick by the collar of his shirt

"Lay another finger on her and you'll need one of your fucked friends to wipe your ass for you for the rest of your miserable existence. Am I clear" Jax's eyes flicker from black to grey with rage in his system trying to control his wolf

"What the hell is wrong your eyes?" Rick asks petrified 

"You don't want to know! Now leave and leave Alexis alone!"

"Fine man, you can keep her! She's a broken slut anyway, fucked all my friends!" Rick spits out

"YOU FORCED ME TO DO IT, RICK!" Alexis yells out. Feeling something strong inside of her, ready to attack at a moment's notice looks at her, and sees her eyes glowing bright purple. Jax let's Rick's collar go and he slides down the wall and onto the floor. His friends helpless, they don't move of fear of Jax and Alexis' glowing eyes.

"Alexis we have to go, NOW!" Jax grabs her arm and her bookbag and slings it on his shoulder and rushes her out the door to his waiting car. She's still stirs with mixed emotions as Jax pushes her down in the passenger seat.

"Alexis??" Jax asks

"Yeah?" 

"Was that him? The one you told Mathias about, your ex?"

"Yes" She says as she shifts in the seat, her eyes very slowly changing back to her natural dark, almost black eyes.

"You know he's dead, right?"

"Serves him right!" Determination in tone

"There's something else..."

"What?"

"Look in the mirror Alexis"

She flips the mirror and catches a glimpse of purple before it all fades away 

"What was that?" She asked in nervous fear

"Alexis...I think that's your wolf coming back to you, giving you a sign" He says low so not to freak her out

"Let's just go home Jax"

"Of course but either you tell Mathias what happened, or I will"

"Later, ok Jax" She promises 

"Later tonight"

"Ok" With that Jax starts his classic red car, which earns stares from jealous guys wishing they could they could drive it and girls wishing they were with Jax with both combined, Alexis was every girl's friend or enemy now.

After getting back to the cabin, Jax heads to Mathias' office to give updates.

"Something happened but I don't think she's going to want to talk about it with you right now" Says Jax looking at Mathias going through paperwork 

"What happened, I felt her anxiety through the Bond"

"Her ex..."

"THE ex?" Mathias' eyes grow wide as he looks up from his papers

"Rick, yeah, that piece of shit with his screwed up buddies"

"Do surveillance on them for the next few days and when you can kill them all but leave him to me" Mathias says in sheer anger and growls loud 

"Sure thing... But there's something else..."

"What?"

"Alexis' eyes turned purple... Not just a tiny shade either, we're talking bright can see across the forest purple"

"No....Purple? You sure about that Jax??"

"Dude! I'm telling you, it was insane purple!"

"Jax... Do you know what this means?"

"That her wolf is coming back?"

"Not just that, Alexis AND her wolf possess witches traits! Now I know what that stupid vampire wanted! I gotta talk to Alexis!"

"she's probably sleeping with everything that happened"

"As soon as she wakes up!"

Later on that evening...

With Alexis finally awake from a nap, she sees Mathias pacing in the room.

"Babe? Stop pacing, what's going on?" Alexis says

"I talked to Jax"

"Of course you did.... I'm sure he told you everything didn't he?"

"He did, from now on you're never alone, got it?!"

"Would you stop treating me like I'm a China doll! I can take care of myself!"

"Precious,  you don't understand, you're in bigger danger than you think"

"Whatever Mathias" Alexis picks up some clothes from the closet and goes to the bathroom for a shower. Mathias growls in frustration. After her shower, Alexis goes to sit outside for some fresh air and sees Ivy walking towards her.

"Hey Ivy!" Alexis says with a smile 

"Hey girl! Wanna come for a walk with me, I want to show something"

"Sure! Let me just grab my sneakers!"

With the girls out for a walk, Ivy starts up a conversation 

"So how's class?"

"Not bad, I guess it's just upgrading so it's boring"

Ivy laughs "I can imagine!"

When they get further away from the cabin Ivy bends down while Alexis keeps walking with her back towards Ivy.

"It's a quiet night" Alexis says and not a moment too soon she feels the cold metal clasp around one wrist, pulling her other arm back and feeling it for a second time around her other wrist and a deep male voice brushing the shell of her ear

"You're mine now child..."

Alexis' blood run cold through her veins as she tries to pry herself free from the silver cuffs against her skin

"Who are you?" Her voice panicked

"Don't fight child, you belong with me, not with some mutt" The man before her says with blood red eyes and curly black hair falling in his eyes making Alexis shudder

"He's not some mutt" Alexis spits "He's my MATE!"

Meanwhile, Mathias' wolf, Trip starts to stir and feel anxious and nervous 

*T: Something's wrong 

*M: I know 

"Alexis!! Baby?" Mathias screams all through the small log mansion.

"Precious! Where are you? I'm sorry if I upset you earlier!" Jax runs in with Ivy in tow.

"What's going on? You don't have to scream people hear just fine dude!"

"I can't find Alexis! I feel her anxiety but nothing else"

"Let's look outside,  maybe she went for a walk"

As soon as Mathias sets foot on the cold, hard ground outside of the packhouse, his body shifts and twists, stretching, popping and snapping and changing into massive full midnight black wolf Trip.

He starts to sniff around for his mate's sent but it's like she's vanished. Trip wines in fear for his mate, and his body starts to ache telling him she's getting further and further away from him. His insides burn like hot lava just knowing deep down she's in danger while he promised he'd keep her safe.
