Chapter 23 Stand by My Side

Gong Zeyang froze at the sight of Su Ziyue for a while. Then he was ready to walk towards her.

“Mr. Gong, nice to see you again.” Qin Muchen said. Gong Zeyang was stopped by his voice.

Gong Zeyang’s face darkened when he saw Qin Muchen. His face got even darker when he noticed Qin Muchen’s car.

Su Ziyue watched Gong Zeyang’s car as she thought, ‘It's Rolls Royce as well, but not the same to Qin Muchen’s.'

Qin Muchen’s car was the limited collector’s edition, only for pre-sale. Gong Zeyang’s was only an ordinary one that everyone could get in automobile sales service shop. The former was far more expensive than the latter.

Gong Zeyang looked embarrassed. He turned to look at Su Ziyue, saying, “Ziyue.”

“Are you here for your fiancée? My husband and I have to go now. We’ve got things to do. Goodbye.” Su Ziyue said aloofly, giving a forced smile.

Qin Muchen held her on the waist. “Mr. Gong, Goodbye.” He looked at Gong Zeyang with undisguised contempt.

Gong Zeyang lifted his head and squinted at Qin Muchen. No one in Yunzhou City dared look at him like that. He was obviously irritated.

As beautiful as Su Ziyue was, he used to have a crush on her. However, he was not allowed to marry a woman whose father was in prison, so he had to give her up.

In addition, he knew how Su Ziyue felt about him.

Even if he had given her up, it did not mean that he would allow other men to take his place in Su Ziyue’s mind.

“Ziyue and I grew up together. She is just like my little sister. Now that you’re married, we shall have dinner together as a celebration.” Gong Zeyang said to Qin Muchen.

He looked at Qin Muchen provokingly, then turned to ask Su Ziyue, “Ziyue, you agree with me, right?”

Su Ziyue sneered in mind, ‘Just like your little sister?’

Su Ziyue did not want to accept his invitation. She could tell from Gong Zeyang’s eyes that he didn’t really mean to have dinner together. What he really wanted to do was to embarrass Qin Muchen.

Qin Muchen looked at Su Ziyue. “Ziyue, we might as well have dinner with Mr. Gong. After all, he is gonna be your brother-in-law.” Qin Muchen said gently.

He stressed the word “brother-in-law”, which made Gong Zeyang even angrier.

‘The guy called Muchen is too arrogant. I won’t make things easy for him!’ Gong Zeyang cursed inside.

“Well, then, I have no reason to refuse. He really is my brother-in-law.”

Su Ziyue smiled. She found the word “brother-in-law” was quite interesting.

But this word made Gong Zeyang’s face looked pale and green.

Su Yige saw three of them in the distance.

She and Gong Zeyang were to have dinner together. She told him to come later so that he wouldn’t run into Su Ziyue. But her little plan didn’t work. They still met.

“There you are, Zeyang.” Su Yige made her way to Gong Zeyang’s side and held his arm, smiling.

Qin Muchen looked at his watch, as if he had a schedule to keep. “We’re all here now. Shall we go?”

Su Yige looked at Qin Muchen. ‘Does Qin Muchen really fall in love with Su Ziyue after their one-night stand?’ she wondered.

‘Otherwise he won’t come here to pick her up.’

“Where are we going?” Su Yige asked Gong Zeyang.

“It’s been a long time for three of us to get together since Ziyue was back. So, I invited them to have dinner with us tonight.”

Gong Zeyang was always gentle and caring when facing Su Yige. In his mind, Su Yige was his ideal wife. She was well-brought-up, gentle and smart.

Su Ziyue turned around to avoid seeing them being intimate.

‘What a perfect match!’

‘An old bitch and a hypocrite.’ Su Ziyue sneered inside.

Since she knew that Gong Zeyang was biased against her because her father was in prison, her affection for him had faded away. She knew better what he really was.

Gong Zeyang chose the hotspot for consumption, the Jade Palace.

In the car, Su Ziyue looked out. “Gong Zeyang was up to no good.” she said while unbuckling the seat belt.

“So, you must stand by my side. You should help me, not him,” Qin Muchen warned.

Qin Muchen turned to look at her. He smiled slightly but his eyes were cold. Su Ziyue found him a bit distant, different from his usual attitude.

Su Ziyue muttered, “What do you mean…”

But Qin Muchen said nothing. He got off the car and opened the door for her, considerate as a real gentleman.

Su Yige was getting off the car as well. She was surprised by Qin Muchen’s car.

Gong Zeyang walked to her side and followed her sight. Noticing that she was admiring Qin Muchen’s car, he was angry and said in a bad mood, “Let’s go.”

Su Yige then turned back finally and found that Gong Zeyang had already gone toward the entrance of Jade Palace. “Zeyang, wait for me please.”

On the table, Gong Zeyang began to pick on Qin Muchen.

“Which company do you work for, Mr. Qin?” Gong Zeyang asked. He bet Qin Muchen didn’t have a better family background than himself.

“Just a small company.” Qin Muchen replied with smile.

“You must be kidding. You cannot possibly work in a small company. I can tell this from your fancy car.” Gong Zeyang squinted at Qin Muchen.

“I borrow that from a friend.” Qin Muchen said.

Gong Zeyang was satisfied with the answer. He bought his car on his own. It’s true that Qin Muchen’s car was better than his, but it was not owned by him.

Gong Zeyang turned to look at Su Ziyue. However, Su Ziyue was focusing on her food. It looked like that she didn’t mind whether Qin Muchen’s car was borrowed from someone else or not.

“I'm full. Today’s work exhausts me, and I need to go home now.” Su Ziyue put down her chopsticks and looked up at Gong Zeyang and Su Yige who sat across from her.

They made her lose her appetite. The reason why Gong Zeyang kept questioning Qin Muchen was because he wanted to prove that Qin Muchen was not as good as he was.

Thanks to Qin Muchen’s good temper, now she even felt a bit sorry for him to tolerate Gong’s behavior.

If he hadn’t married her, he would not have needed to bear this.

Su Yige thought Su Ziyue wanted to leave because of embarrassment. She said on purpose, “Now you’re working in PR Department, you’ll have a lot of dinner parties to attend in the coming days. You shall get used to this as soon as possible.”

“The PR Department? Why do you choose this department? There are many other departments for you to choose.” Gong Zeyang said with disagreement. It would be impossible for Su Ziyue to get away from socializing and drinking if she worked in PR Department.

Thinking for a moment, he frowned and said to Su Ziyue, “You’d better transfer to another department tomorrow. You’re the second lady of the Su Clan. How can you handle those complex dinner parties?”

Su Yige's face turned grim immediately. When she put it that Su Ziyue chose to work in PR Department, she meant to show the two men that Su Ziyue was a woman without much self-esteem as she wanted to be engaged in complex social life. But she did not expect that her plan would backfire.

‘Gong Zeyang still has feelings for Su Ziyue.’ Thinking of this, Su Yige’s hatred toward Su Ziyue became more intense.

Su Ziyue darted a teasing look at Su Yige at that moment, which made Su Yige feel uneasy, and then said softly, “Don’t worry. Your fiancée will tell me how to do that.”
