Devastation 5

Nicholai POV

Everything was doing great in my life. It has been two months since my angel move in with me. I made sure that she is always happy. I gave her everything she need. And in return she makes me feel complete.

Our friends knew about our set up. They don't approve of it but eventually let it go since me and my angel didn't care much about what they are saying. We were happy and contended with our set up.

"You really would take us with you." Gabby said excitedly.

"Yes, if you want to go. I mean granny will be very happy to see all of us in her 90th birthday."

"Nicholai, I really wish I can go but I have things to do at the office." Cassie stated.

"Angel, it would just be for 5 days. And besides everyone's going. Right guys?" I said happily.

"Yes." Gabby, Jake, Cole and Roxy said in unison.

"I really can't." Cassied said.

"Best, come on. It's a trip to Texas. You always wanted to see a ranch before." Gabby stated convincing her.

"Cassie, are you scared of meeting Nicholai parents." Cole teased.

"Of course not. Parents love me." She gloated.

"Then what's stopping you from going to the ranch. It would be fun." Jake stated.

"Come on, Cassie it won't be fun without you." Roxy said.

We spend most of the dinner trying to convince my angel to join us. I was dying to introduce her to my family. She's special. She's my angel.

"I'm sorry guys. I really can't go."

"Okay." I said. "Guys pack your things were leaving tomorrow morning. Will meet in the airport around 5am."

"Why tomorrow? I thought it would be the next week?"

"Your not going so what's the sense in waiting for a few more days."

"We'll me and Roxy will just follow then. She needs to finish some things at the hospital." Cole said.

"Well, we can all just go together, next week as planned." Jake stated.

"Alright, you guys can follow on whenever you like. I'll go there tonight."

"What? Nicholai, are you out of your mind its 9pm. I don't think you'll be able to book a flight now." Cassie butted in.

"I have a private plain that can take me to Antartica this moment. So I'm going." I said dismissively.

"You're being unreasonable." Cassie said. "Your being a jerk."

"Sure, whatever you say. I want you to meet my family but you can't even be absent from work for a few days." I yelled at her.

"Why would meeting your family matter so much? You said it yourself we are in a no string attach relationship. Why involve them?" She yelled back at me.

"Shut up you two." Gabby shouted at the top of her lungs. "Stop fighting like an old married couple. Please, would you talk about this calmly."

"Fine, you don't have to go." I said. "I just wanted them to meet you. Its' no big deal. I'll see you when I see you."

I walked out of Jake and Gabby's house. And made arrangements for my flight to Texas.

Cassie POV

The moment Nicholai left the door the tears that I was holding back started to fall. It was the first time we fought and I felt so bad. I was so scared of the idea of meeting his family what if they don't like me.

"Best, stop crying." Gabby hugged me. "His being a jerk."

"No. It's my fault. Now he hates me." I cried even louder.

"He doesn't hate you." Jake said. "He cares for you and he doesn't know what to do."

"That's right. His scared that you don't want to meet his parents. He never introduce any girl to them after Amanda." Cole stated.

"Who's Amanda?" I was sobbing.

"Its not a story for us to tell." Jake and Cole said almost at the same time.

"Whatever. I'm going home. I'll talk to him." I rushed home.

When I got home he wasn't there. I tried calling him but his phone was off. I started crying again. I cried myself to sleep after leaving 30 voice mails on his phone. I beg him to call me back and said that I'm really sorry for how I acted.

It was 4am when my phone rang and I immediately answered it when I saw it was him.

"Hey, where are you?" I was crying.

"Sorry to wake you up. I'm in Texas. I just want to let you know that I'm fine. I just turn on my phone and heard your messages. Stop crying." He sounded tired.

"You left!" I cried more. "Get your ass back here. I miss you."

"I just got here. My family will kill me if I leave immediately. I'm sorry for yelling at you. I should have not done that." He said sweetly.

"It was my fault. I was being selfish." I stated sobbing like a baby.

"No, I was being selfish. I was forcing you to do something you don't like."

"I'd love to meet your family. So please get back here and take me with you. I'll go wherever you want. I'll do whatever you want me to do." I begged.

"No, just do what you want. I think we both need space to think. So stop crying. I got to go. Take care."

The line ended before I can even respond. He was asking for space. Great we got into a stupid arguement and he went to Texas. This guy is driving me insane. Is he trying to break up with me?

Its not like I'm her girlfriend. I mean were friends and friends don't break up. But why does it hurt so much. Why does he want to be away me? Is this his way of saying he is already tired of me?

I tried calling him back but his phone was turned off. Maybe he really need space. I guess his right I can do what I want. I'm not ready to meet his family. What if they don't like? What if they ask him to stay away from me. What if they think I'm a gold digger.

So many what ifs. Well he wanted space that's what he'll get. I can do this. I am Cassand Nicole Rockwell.
